Nick Cave

Previously didn't know any of his stuff apart from the Kylie duet!

Seeing him and the Bad Seeds perform on Jonathan Woss prompted me to listen to the album "Dig, Lazarus, Dig". A previous posting here led to the music afficianados on this board recommending his previous double album "Abbatoir Blues and Lyre of Orpheus" - enjoyed this too.

Any fans of "Brighton's coolest resident" (as I think someone described him here) care to recommend any more of his stuff??

Nick Cave?

Never heard of him.

Seriously - do a search of the DOZENS of threads on here about the God that is Nick Cave. That should be a good start.

One of the Funniest things I've ever seen is the sight of Nick Cave sat outside a beach hut (the very last one at the end of Hove Lawns heading towards Portslade de la Mere) in a beat up old deck chair, looking like some guy who'd misplaced his knotted hanky! Rock and indeed Roll!

Not sure its considered to be one of his best, but i'm actually quite a big fan of his 'Nocturama' album. I think it was from 2002-ish. Its quite a ballad-based album, with a couple of bizarre/insane 'rockier' numbers thrown in. But the ballads are what you'd buy it for. I think it was also the last album with guitarist Blixa Bargeld as a Bad Seed? If that means anything to anyone.

I also really like the Grinderman album.

Gotta be honest though i can't get into 'Dig, Lazarus, Dig'...

My own personal fave?

Probably - No more shall we part but it's like asking who's your favourite child. As long as they're not ginger then you're bound to love them equally but differently.

I knew you'd get arsey about that! Just kidding, Simon. Ooh can I change my vote to the Boatman's Call too.

Excellent, from now on any bad album in an artist's cannon shall be known as the 'ginger album' !!

I aim to please.

I do believe that there's a fair few NSCers going to the Brighton gig next month too. Should be a fantastic atmosphere. His last gig at the Hammersmith is easily in my top 5 best ever gigs.

Completely agree with you about the Hammersmith gig. Utterly brilliant. Looking forward to the Brighton Center gig.

Gonna have to be a big NSC love in then beforehand.

I know Kylie Stunt Arse and Merry Prankster are also going. THPP a definite too.

I make no apologies for blubbing during the obligatory Ship Song.
