No contest. One is a two years past his sell by date miles past his best, cant pass to a player in blue and white stripes, has been found wanting at championship level. The other just hasnt been given a consistent run in the team by MM but proved with his performance at wolves he is a championship quality player, retains the ball well and given his size can win the ball back well too.

5-1 to Nicholas, I wonder who is in the negative

Both - there is f*** all chance of us signing a decent centre midfielder anyway

I'm sorry but what little I have seen of Nicholas has not been impressive. To lightwight to be an "oatway" ball winner, too short to be a commanding presence and precious little creativity. Bit too much like Hammond. one in a midfield is more than enough and hammond at least used to be able to score goals.

IMHO Nicholas:wave:

I don't agree, Chippy was f***ing awful last season. Nicholas was never given a chance earlier on in the season, only in the last two games he was given a chance to prove himself.

Chippy - proven at League 1 level.

Nicolas - Unproven at all levels.

Whatever anyone says, keeping Nicolas on is a gamble, and it's bloody unlikely he'd stay anyway. I've been a big critic of Chippy all season, but drop him down a league and i think he could do a job. However, this is still a gamble.

BUT: both of them are better than nothing

Ok he is proven at League One Level, but he loses the ball so many times, his passing has gone downhill, he to slow getting back to defend.

That sums it pretty well for me. Chippy has passed his peak, and great though he has been for the club, he's realistically not going to get any better. Nicolas, on the other hand, is a hugely intelligent footballer, very good in possession, and decent defensively. The only worry for me would be whether he's too similar to Oatway or not.

I am not denying that - but if Chippy goes, our midfielder will be one man weaker. We all know how useless the club are in the transfer market at finding players to fill specific positions, so without a ready made replacement, i'd keep both.

Keep them both.

You just know once Knight & McGhee get in the transfer market it's all gonna go down hill again!

i have a mate who has a season ticket at chelsea. he used to go to a fair few reserve games and cant understand how lex never gets a game for us. he reckons he was a huge prospect, but just not good enough for their first team

you just know that 4 games into the new season, the one we keep will break his leg and we wont have a midfield

AGAIN :nono:

No fence, who would you keep to get rid of the other?

I'm willing to bet you haven't seen Nicolas play one full game. The fence should really have been included for you.

Get rid of Nicolas because he is probably one of the highest paid at the club and hardly ever plays, pointless in keeping him.
