I've had two lots from British Gas without asking for them.
Every light fitting in my house is halogen so the freebies British Gas have sent are just sitting on the side. Besides, I hate the energy saving bulbs - when I switch on a light I want FULL light NOW not six hours later !!!

Oh yeah, they're all heart these energy companies. I got my "free" lightbulbs the same week my monthly direct debit went up by over 100%.

The energy saving bulbs I've had in the past haven't lasted as long as the ordinary ones. Whenever I go into a DIY shop now I always buy a pack of cheap standard bulbs to stock up for the day when our lords and masters in Brussels stick the jackboot into them (next year apparently).

Energy saving lightbulbs are great - with their weak glow all you then need to buy are some regular non-energy saving lightbulbs so that you can actually see what you're doing!

this is true, ive change a good few in the last 3 years, the life expectancy is pure bollocks. and they dont save you as much money as claimed either due to some obscure electrical effect. all round they are not the panacea we are led to believe.
