Absolutely not.

If you had been in close enough proximity, for long enough, with a person who had a confirmed Covid positive test result, in that coffee shope or anywhere else, then you will be advised to isolate.

That's the only thing that triggers it, not scanning a QR code.

But then what is the point of signing in to places?

I think zeemeeuw may be right.

I don't know, but I would have thought the whole point of scanning into places is to register on the 'non app' part of Track and Trace to enable you to be matched with people who don't have the app. (If you and the person testing positive both have the app then, as you rightly say, any automatic notification would require you to have actually been within 2M of one another for 15mins).

However, If I don't have the app and sign in manually at the pub,bar (whatever), and then test positive and inform the venue manually, the manual track and trace system will then kick into action and notify everyone who was in the same place at that time. If you had scanned in earlier that day, you could still be registered as being there, even though you weren't.

If you don't scan in and out, how can they tell what app users were there when I was, as oppose to what app users had been there at some point during the same day as me.

It's fairly simple logic related to basic track and trace process (ie not technical in any way), for which I'm not sure I can see the answer

I wonder how this will go, the BBC ripping into the tories again, and getting some leftie who has wet the bed, no doubt. Yes, they will drag up some bitter so-called professional who want to whistleblow also. Same old script from the desperate media to show their propaganda.

I hope they mention the most significant issues, like Cock Wombles who are rebelling the system politically, that will end up killing thousands of innocent people, by spreading negative news and not obeying the rules.

Yep, the Cock Wombles they suck in the negative vape being spread like a triple strength virus through society.

I wonder how balanced a program that will be???

Surely even you Thunderbolt can't support this stuff?

I will be tuning into Corrie as it is a far more accurate picture of what is happening in our country.

Gary Windass is likely to be taking Audrey Roberts around the back alley, while Tracy Barlow gets it all covered on her iPhone with her recently installed Covid19 app.

Coronation Street 7.30pm Tonight 'Test And Tracy Exposes'.

Dominic Cummings?

As said its not app users who are the problem in this scenario because they are matched by bluetooth and therefore in the suggested case would not be matched. The issue is the ones who sign in being wrongly matched.

Dominic Cummings?

Yes, it's a shame the COVID 19 app was not produced BEFORE the virus even got here, as then he could have proved the media were kicking a storm up over nothing.

Only the Cock Wombles use Cummings as a scapegoat, as they need some way to prove that they are indeed intelligent people.

Have you downloaded the App yet Boldy???

So you think it's the fault of anyone who don't or can't download the app for whatever reason, rather than an apparent basic logic flaw in the track and trace system ???

*edit* Just re-read and realised you may be stating a simple fact, rather than apportioning blame, Apologies if that's the case.

Having said that, I'm pretty confident that I've missed something because I can't believe all these months, billions of pounds and the Government's finest minds would have missed such a fundamental logic flaw before any money was spent on design, code and testing. It is, after all, a world beating system and they got Dido Harding to lead it.

Someone will put me right soon

But it was tested on the IOW and in Harringey so I assume that the testing would have discovered the issue with test codes.
Which would indicate that the Government either decided to issue the app with a known issue, or their testing programme was no robust and they set the bar too low to ensure they could sign off on the release.

they tested the program, but not the programme.

I wonder how this will go, the BBC ripping into the tories again

Bearing in mind:

1. The Tories, and no one else, have been in Government for the last 10 years during which time the 'foundations' were not laid for an appropriate national public health response, quite the opposite, despite repeated warnings; and

2. The Tories, and no one else, has been in Government for the last six months, during which time the national Public health repose has been, at best, a million miles from ideal.

I am not sure who else the BBC should be ripping into

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
the NHS doesnt have a few thousand people on standby to do testing, so outsourced it. meanwhile the part that is blocking is test results not coming back from labs, including NHS labs not providing codes.

The app in Scotland and Wales is being run by the NHS, not Serco/Deloitte.

Serco and Deloitte do testing, the people taking swabs, some labs, and track and trace people. the app in England and Wales (same) was NHS led delivered by outfit called Zuhlke (also did Swiss app), the NHS Scotland had a outfit called NearForm (also did Ireland app).

Whilst the experts are on here I have a question on the app.

When using the “Check Symptons” section if I declare that I have lost my sense of smell the app takes me to a 2nd page that asks the approx date when I noticed this. My question is: if I put a date in and hit “submit” will it capture me as a “possible” and use this data. Or is this just a “help” facility and will provide me with some guidance

Also what’s an “episode” when describing a cough?
