“Start spreading the news” as Mr. Sinatra would say …….with both the Giants (10-1) and the Jets (8-3) both flying high the possibility of the first ever New York Super Bowl in Tampa next February is coming a bit closer. It’s unusual for both sides to be doing this well at this stage. Both teams should have a good chance of winning their remaining games - Giants (Redskins, Eagles, Cowboys, Panthers and Vikings) and the Jets (Broncos, 49ers, Bills, Seahawks and Dolphins) - should be interesting.

Looks like the Giants are unstopable with their seventh win in a row, 23 - 7 over the Redskins. This despite the fact that their star receiver Plaxico Burress managed to shoot himself in the leg in a nightclub - he is recovering but looks like the fuzz might want a word with him !

What on earth do these players think when they do shit like this. The amount of incidents of pro players who earn the craziest salaries doing the STUPIDEST things is endless.

Burress has been a twat for a while but this really puts the icing on the cake. There's talk of a potential mandatory 3.5 year sentance

A lot of NFL players are as thick as a lot of Premiershite players, sad fact of life. Michael Vick is possibly the dumbest of them all.

Not in any way condoning Georgia's most famous purveyor of dog fights but I did think the reaction was a little skewed in comparison to the antics of Adam "Pacman" Jones who beat up a woman as well as one of his associates paralysing a club doorman who had the temerity to kick them out of a nightclub for said altercation. Doubtless this was in some way a "diss" and Adam's posse were left with no alternative but to return armed to the teeth and exact the due retribution.

Should acknowledge the Broncos unexpected win over the Jets at this point since I did predict a heavy defeat for them and the Donkey Centre Half will get offended if I don't.

Go Gators. Seminoles join the ranks of teams humiliated by Florida's finest with only Bama and Oklahoma to go now.

Agreed, but that doesn't make what he did any less stupid, just means that Pacman shouldn't be back in the NFL either.

I think for next season i'm gonna subscribe to NASN to watch these college games but for now please forgive my ignorance on the subject (assuming that is the subject you're talking about). The com's last night were saying they (whoever 'they' are) will have a tough time choosing who plays in these big final games as so many teams have such good records. How does it all work?

Probably already been mentioned, btu have you seen that The Giants' Plaxico Burress is out for the time being, for shooting HIMSELF in the leg - now THAT'S just plain STUPID.

From Perez Hilton:

"Eli Manning must be sooooo pissed!

His pube faced Giants teammate, wide receiver Plaxico Burress, shot himself in the leg at a NYC club early Saturday morning.

Ding bat was packing heat at a Manhattan club and according to reports, when his gun slipped down his pant leg, his liquored up ass accidently set it off when he tried to get it back into position.

Thank goodness he didn't hurt anyone else.

The Giants' trouble doesn't end there.

Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce, who was also at the club pAArtying, tried to 'help' his teammate out by hiding Pube Face's gun.

Police insiders reveal that Pubes is expected to be arrested on felony weapons charges and that the Gun Hider's attorney was 'in frantic discussions with cops' on Saturday night to save his client from criminal charges.

Don't most teams have 'no partying' rules during the season?

Way to eff up the team's 'dream season', guys.

Oh, and get this.

Plaxico said that he had to carry a gun for 'protection'.

If shiz was really that bad, Plax, we're sure your coach would've forced the team to pay for a bodyguard.

You caught last year's Super Bowl winning pass for goodness sake!!"

That was lazy wasn't it? Sorry all!!!! I'm blaming nightshifts for that!

The article was good mind you. Trouble is with the whole situation, just like with Joey Barton over here, outrageous money and fame is going to people from such under-privaliged backgrounds that they simply cannot deal with it.

I would say the NFL probably has a greater problem than we have over here though due to the huge amount of players from run down, inner city backgrounds

tampa bay and new england at wembley next year then.

skint gull the nasn coverage is awesome until the baseball/ice hockey/basketball is going on and then they drop the cfb to just one, sometimes two games a weekend. when that isn't on you can get six cfb games a week.

There are various polls conducted to decide the rankings. The other one that really counts (in terms of deciding who will play in the Championship game) is the BCS poll. Things like strength of opposition are taken into account so that Boise State's 100% record in a weaker conference counts for less that Florida's 11 wins and 1 defeat in the SEC (South Eastern Conference). The Big 12 and the SEC are seen as the two strongest at the moment and hence it's the winner of these two that will contest the National Championship game. There are always murmurings about introducing play offs to make it fairer and Barack Obama has added his voice to this.
At the end of the day it's all a little academic as we're just talking about who gets to be runner up to Florida who are head and shoulders above anyone else in the country.

To your other point absolutely Vick should be banned as should Jones. I was just trying to make the point that in my view (and others might well disagree) being indirectly involved in events that led to a man being paralysed is worse than arranging dog fights.

no kidding.

i wonder if they will stick with the ticket ballot thing. i am never sure how fair that is and like you say, will be a mad scramble for tickets this time around.

i heard the nfl uk folks have been murmuring about more than one game a season here after this 'three year' batch of games are up. selfishly i hope they bring plenty of games over, but i am not really sure i like the idea, i certainly wouldn't like it if uncle ken sent us to florida instead of an elland road home game.

should be a good game though.

Can see your point, but it is slightly a different culture I guess, and selfishly I won't be complaining!

Regarding tickets, I think the Ballot system 2 years ago was crap - I was lucky enough to get tickets first time round from a friend who got through, but it seemed like they just allocated them to people who claimed to be Dolphins fans.

This time it seemed like more or less everyone got through - which I think is fairer as if you put them on sale at a certain time on a certain date, the people who REALLY want them will get them (or at least stand a good chance), as opposed to people who aren't that fussed and sign up on the off chance...
