Next Tottenham manager.. should we be worried?

he's been a player there, he's been a coach there, he's been an assistant manager there. He has always said that he would love to go back there to manage (rather than Chelsea)

So on the basis that he's been at the club before you think they would appoint someone with NO top flight management experience? I am sure Poyet would love to go there, but there's absolutely no reason for him to even be vaguely on their radar.

I know that some chairmen aren't the brightest but you'd have to be STRAIGHTJACKET crazy to appoint an untested manager to a team in the Champions League places, and Levy's always struck me as being pretty level-headed.

He was also sacked when assistant manager, and still only has experience in league 1, and half a season at championship level.

There is no way Gus is going to be the next manager of Spurs. Even if he went it wouldn't worry me, we are in a good position to get another decent manager in to carry on our momentum.

I personally don't think it is the rgiht time for Gus to move on to Spurs and I don't think Spurs would be looking to him either. IMO i think they will go for a bit more experience because like people have been saying Spurs are fairly certain of a Champions League space next season and will probably need somebody to push them forward.

For England I am thinking along the lines of a potential appointment of Redknapp but short term maybe Guus Hiddink, he has the tournament experience and seems to get the best out of some pretty average players in big tournaments. Not sure if it would work or be a popular choice but with Harry in the wings to take over after the Euro's people may be able to understand and look beyond the obvious.

As for Spurs, do they have the money to get players that Mourinho would want He would be an obvious candidate but will Spurs fit his remit?

All we can do is wait for the drama to unfold in front of us with crossed fingers.....

Spurs are not going to look to someone who has never managed in the Premier League when they are still involved in a title challenge and a race for the Champions League. I rate Gus and I think he is a great manager, but he is not god, and people shouldn't get their knickers in a twist when spurs won't even consider him at the moment

I think Mourinho would be tempted by Spurs if he was offered the job at the end of the season. Spurs must have plenty of money to spend after last year's Champions League run and Mourinho may fancy a return to England.

Agree, we love Gus, and most of thus believe he is and will continue to grow to being a great manager, but Spurs will want someone with more than only a couple of seasons experience in League One and 2/3rds of a season in the Championship. They will not take that kind of risk when they seem odds on to clinch a CL spot this season.

My bet is that Redknapp will be appointed as Part-Time England coach until the end of the season with Spurs. He'll then be full time at the start of the Euro's. Spurs will then have from now until the summer to work out who their new manager will be.

I also agree that because Gus and board have bought into a shared aspiration to a style of play throughout the club, that will inform who you appoint to take over: i.e. someone who will continue you that on, exactly like when Swansea appointed Rogers after Martinez left, Rogers got the job as his philosophy was a like-for-like replacement. Simples.

Gus is in no way ready to manage a top 6 Premier League side-yet! His best route to that level of job is to get BHAFC into the top flight and show progress there for a couple of seasons. I'm sure Gus is thinking something similar. He's no mug and knows himself that he hasn't done enough yet. He is still making mistakes (and learning from them) which he wouldn't be allowed to do in the Prem.

Unless something spectacular comes along I'm convinced we've got Gus with us at least until the new training complex is completed-then he'll have his 'The Club that Gus Built' legacy on his CV.

Alan Pardew 12/1, doing well at newcastle and needs to still prove he is a top manager
David Moyes 11/2, would be a good career move for him.

Brendan Rogers 12/1, very little top flight experience
Joe Jordan 16/1, when was the last time he managed a team?
Martin O'neil 12/1, only just got back into a job and going well.
Carlo Ancelloti 20/1, would be a good appointment, has the experience
Fabio Capello 20/1, really, f***ing really?
Gus Poyet 20/1, did well in league 1, and doing alright in championship.
Gus Hiddink 20/1, would be a good appointment, has the experience
Mark Hughes 20/1, only just got a job back in football.


For me, i would stick a fiver on Ancelloti.

He just got the job at PSG, and now they're super rich, why leave?

Every interview I have ever heard with Gus, when the subject comes up, he always talks about Chelsea being the club he would like to manage. One time I can remember specifically was when he was on Goals on Sunday with Gordon Strachan at the end of last season.

If Harry does go and that is still an if, Spurs will be in the Champs League (probably) and Spurs are not going to risk appointing a manager whom has never managed for single day in the Premiership let alone the CL. Ancelloti hasn't got a job at the mo and neither has Hiddink, Mourinho is gagging to get back to the Prem next season. If I was Daniel Levy I would certainly look to those 3 way before Gus.

Gus is in the bookies odds for every vacany, it means crap all.

Spurs will require someone with a big name to retain existing names and get new ones in, who has experience of to flight and champions league preferbly. does Gus fit that?

timing will be important, if Rednapp does leave, im not sure alot of the people on the list will be available. a couple on that list are probably waiting to see what happens elsewhere - Hiddink must be watching the Chelsea situation, Mourinho watching that and Manchester. i dont see Ancelloti leaving PSG's money, let alone mid season. I cant see O'Neil leaving Sunderland mid season either. Pardew not enough track record and the rest dont have the experience.

smart money has to be on Moyes, but if it waits untill the summer who knows who'll be available or interested in the job. But it will probably end up someone off that list.
