I know that most of us are more interested in the managerial shenanigans closer to home, but who from the following list (if any) do you think will be knocking on the door at Old Trafford looking for a job when Sir Alex hangs up his tracksuit?

It struck me that there are three of his former protegees doing pretty well thank you in the Premiership, none other than; Keane, Bruce and Hughes...will it be one of them, or someone completely different.

One of those three definitely, i reckon Keane.

However, would be better if they made a ridiculous FLAIR appointment, and got CANTONA in!

Out of those it could only be Hughes... the only one who looks like possibly being anything more than ordinary.

a good shout, though i wonder if he will stay around till Fergie steps aside which could be a fair few seasons yet.

Well he had a season at Real Madrid and was then dismissed and United took him straight back as no.2 so that says something about how high regard they have for him.

If you were asking this question in two years I would say Keane. He has just got something about him the others don't, though Hughes is not far behind.

In this day and age a manager has to be feared by big-name and big-money players, it's the only thing they have left. Ferguson has it, it's very rare, and you'd think twice before going into Keane's office to have a moan about something.

But if United do win in Moscow, and Fergie throws everyone a curveball by retiring - which I think would happen - it might be too soon for Keane.

Possibly Queiroz for a year or so, keepign seat warm for the volatile Irishman.

Can't imagine Coppell would be a contender - he couldn't handle the pressure at City, and you need to be a pretty robust character to manage United at the best of times, let alone be the man after Fergie.

Man United are going to getting a lot of Portuguese players over the years and its all down to Quireoz.

But were looking at a timescale of around 10 years time as Fergie probably will stay until 2015

mark hughes is the best of those three - he will be in a top job pretty soon, whether it is at united is a completely different question
