Over a few too many beers, a year or so ago, a few of us had Clive Owen as our preffered candidate.
If the producers are finally going to do it properly again it would be good to see an Englishman get the job for a change (Roger Moore was a joke and David Niven was supposed to be) . He could certainly do the job playing 'Bond' as per the Fleming character but I fear that they'll end up getting some pretty boy/ action dooofus in.
As a gambler, if I could find anything a bit more generous than 4's or more on Clive Owen I'd take it. He's got a few films coming out soon, some of which have got some 'action' to them - something I've never seen him do in films. If he carries that off and if the producers want to rejuvinate the franchise and have a Bond who can bring a bit of subtle menace and coldness to the roll it's got to be Owen.
If it is, we have a chance of getting the best 'Bond' film since the golden age of Connery.
For me, Jude Law is too young and too smug. Clive Owen must SURELY be the No1 contender. Even his cameo in The Bourne Identity makes him shit-hot. Well moody in Croupier.
