Who would’ve guessed that hiring one of the most unpopular Tories in recent memory, who resigned just a week earlier under very dubious circumstances, could backfire.

Yep, stunning that Sunak has not learned the mistakes of his predecessors, you can't just keep riding these things out, sometimes you have to admit that someone has made a mistake and they have to pay for it. It's normal. They are so frigging out of touch though, seriously, they just think they're above scrutiny and rules.

She's loved and loathed in equal measure I would think. Her comments on migrants and her actions at Manston will have endeared her to many Tories and racists. The problem is that saying the right thing only takes you so far up the greasy pole of Tory politics, she has been shown up to be pretty poor at her job and additionally seems to be a security risk too.

Video exists of her talking up Brexit before the vote and explaining that the EU would somehow owe us money after we leave, we all know what happened next. I believe she spouted off something about increasing fines and penalties for drug possession and use, yet that well known user, Mr Gove was wheeled out to try to defend her on the Sunday politics shows.. oh the irony !

In a nutshell we have a Home Secretary with views and actions that would have seemed unthinkable a mere 5 years ago but now has twice been in one of the four great offices of state. I think she has to go, yet again.

Maybe if someone had pointed out that she was completely incompetent and had been promoted way beyond her abilities when she was first made a Junior Minister five years ago, it wouldn't have come to this

An internal investigation has found no evidence of bullying during a vote on fracking last month, the House of Commons speaker has said.
Sir Lindsay Hoyle said the atmosphere was "tense" but there was no evidence of "undue influence" on MPs.
He added that the report about the incident would be published shortly.

Despite all the hysteria and grandstanding from the opposition at the time (Chris Bryant posting photos on Twitter etc...) it turns out to be a bit more fake news:

An internal investigation has found no evidence of bullying during a vote on fracking last month, the House of Commons speaker has said.
Sir Lindsay Hoyle said the atmosphere was "tense" but there was no evidence of "undue influence" on MPs.
He added that the report about the incident would be published shortly.

Or potentially Tories minimising any further damage to their own party. The report basically says that the MP who was claimed to have been "manhandled" denied that they were, and the "nearest witnesses" (who would all have been Tory) denied seeing anything untoward.

I suspect the truth lies somewhere in the middle ground and that a Tory MP was "robustly convinced" (but not outright bullied) and then "escorted" (but not manhandled) into the lobby to ensure they didn't change mind.

Regardless of where the truth lies, what I think this episode does highlight is that it is time for the archaic tradition of voting by going through lobbies needs to end. There are plenty of parliamentary democracies around the world who have found better ways of doing it.

Was that the same Sir Lindsay Hoyle who allowed Johnson to go unreprimanded in the HOC for regular lies, and, to defame Starmer by saying he failed to prosecute Saville ?

It is, but to be fair to Titanic, he needs to celebrate his party's victories where he can, no matter how negligible they are

Although I did think he had given up trying to defend Johnson's Brexit cabal, given his comments about who he was voting for at the campaign for the last Conservative leader before this one

I would suggest Sunak has more important issues at home to deal with than fly to Cop27, we already have a representation going.

I would suggest a LOT of it has to do with 'Boris' announcing he was going, having been invited by the organisers.

A whole load of ego at stake with politicians.

Mind you, it'll be interesting to watch the 'it's just all for show – world leaders don't need to be there' people who came out in support of Sunak's original decision flip-flop in support of him changing his mind...
