Indeed, and if he were happy to leave Forest for us, I wouldn't want him, as I'm sure he'd be happy to leave us too.

I think the last week has been proven that anyone would be happy to leave anywhere should a bigger wad of cash be waved.

I don't think it's that simple - Chelsea were offering not just the cash, but the idea of a long term plan. I'm not sure Potter would have taken the job if Abramovic was still in charge (not that he'd have been offered it), and I'm not sure he'd have taken a job at Villa for a pay rise. Some managers are more flighty than others, and if Cooper were interested in coming to us, that wouldn't look good on him.

This is a huge decision for Bloom we don’t want to step back three seasons which may happen with the Norwegian.

Anyway he lost 3-2 this weekend in the shitty NSL interview failed :)

As opposed to the crippling short termism he had to endure here.

But I go along with the line of logic that we couldn’t get Cooper even if we wanted him. Not so much to do with relative club size, more to do with backing. If Cooper at Forest wants a new striker, his chairman will get him one. (The chairman might even get him a striker if he doesn’t want one).

Here the model of the Albion is a stumbling block to recruiting a manager. A prospective new head coach, who has genuine choice of a number of clubs is likely to choose one, who will let him buy players if results are going badly, (not really the model here), who will dig in and refuse to sell best players when big clubs come calling (not really the model here) or at least bring in a few players so he feels like it’s his own team, not one he inherited, which I doubt.

It’s a tough sell to a lot of prospective coaches that we've got a 17 year old Irish kid who we think might be a PL goalscorer in 2027, but before that we'll have to make do.

Steve Cooper, who during his time in Swansea in the middle of the playoff went to be interviewed by Crystal Palace, would also have left Nottingham for Champions League club Chelsea on a five-year-contract worth £60m irregardless if Marinakis would give him one, two or a dozen Emmanuel Dennis. Trust me.

I don't doubt he'd leave Forest for Chelsea. I do doubt he'd leave Forest for Brighton.

And as you have a poor recent record of judging whether a manager is likely to move somewhere, i'm not so sure I will trust you :)

Two reasons to counteract what you say could be:

Tony Bloom by definition is a very patient man, he will always be prepared to give any new incumbent time to put things right should he fail to achieve quick results, or if things don't go as well as expected, unlke the mad Greek Marinakis who could pull the plug on him at any time.

Secondly why keep an unhappy player? to my mind better to let him go, rather than hold to someone who probably wouldn't give his best if he wanted to be somewhere else.

Just playing devil's advocate you understand. :)

Agree with that.

And hah! I'm still 2-1 up on those who thought GP would go to Everton or Spurs.

Exciting to see so many juve fans calling for de zerbi to be appointed at their club. Allegri not popular. If he's that highly thought of by one of the biggest clubs in the world he can't be too shabby.

Not sure if fans opinions are that reliable based on NSC

But If he is actually that good, then hopefully he gets the gig before (if) Juve give Allegri the elbow. Can't see us competing with Juve for him.

If Cooper was that dedicated to Forest, or that highly thought of by their ownership, would the current situation, where he has 9 months left on his contract, have been allowed to arise, without representatives of one or both side making lots of noise in the press about extensions?

No, that's clearly not what I said. You said "anyone would be happy to leave anywhere should a bigger wad of cash be waved" and I replied that it wasn't just the cash (ie, yes, there was cash) but also a long term plan.

We were offering a long term plan, but we weren't also offering cash.

While I think Marinakis would not cry over Cooper leaving - he loves to sack manages and Nottinghams results are probably below his expectations so far - I also can not see him allowing Brighton to "poach" Cooper due to pure pride. That would be like openly admitting that Brighton and TB are bigger and better than him and Nottingham. If they lose against Fulham it could perhaps happen "the natural way" (Marinakis sacking Cooper) and that would make Steve available for Brighton, if TB & co wants him.

Heartening to see that after three years of whining about Potter, you've started on the next one before he's even appointed.

Or a woman? or even a they?
Society isn't ready for a woman yet - I say society deliberately to mean not specifically football.

If the albion appointed a woman and then had to sack her how would wider society react ?

Sexist ! Chauvinistic ! Bhafc scum ! Barber's head is needed on a plate ! Bloom must go !

Basically a world of pain for the club.

We saw it with all the accusations of "racism" when Hughton was dismissed.

Society needs to grow up first. We wouldn't need the circus.

What is the highest level that a woman has coached/managed in the men's game?
Men coach in the women's game, so why don't women coach men?

Because at the moment men would lose their sh!t. You only have to look at the reaction on the BBC and twitter pages, when women who dare play football gets reported. I don't think a woman however capable would be accepted and because of that they probably wouldn't be @rsed to apply as it would be to much grief and zero respect.

No idea to either question

I am merely pointing out the world of pain we'd get.

Forewarned is forearmed - maybe bhafc would be happy to ride out the backlash, which would make the Hughton "racism" accusations seem like nothing.

Sorry, I'll de-rail this no more. I can't make the point in any other ways, anyway. No need to repeat it further.
