I find it so depressing that people are even mentioning these names. What is it with some Albion fans and their low self esteem?

Do they honestly think that is all we are worth?

We have the best opportunity we will ever have to attract top level talent and people are happy to settle for these low level coaches.

I really hope Tony and Paul are not thinking like this. I am sure they are not.

Use the £23 from Potter to pay Poch the same wages as Potters contract but on a 2 year deal. He is out of work, we lose nothing.

We have zero chance of Poch but even if hypothetically we threw money at him and he joined every time a top job came up he would be talked about and likely be off very quickly (see ancelotti spell at Everton as a recent example of this). I think the club will want some form of stability and we will see a lower profile, leftfield appointment

Hughton was sacked on 13/5/19. Potter took over 7 days later on the 20/5/19.

Hughton sacking was in the pipeline for a while so no comparison to our situation here.

Like the 3yrs of a 6 year contract that Potter gave? There is no stability. Not in this game. Not unless you are prepared to pay the money.

Spending more does not necessarily mean you get better quality (though it is obviously sometimes the case).

Caicedo cost about £5m, does that make him any worse than Danny Drinkwater who cost Chelsea £35m?

If Tony Bloom can find a manager as good as Pochettino for a third of the cost, why wouldn't he go for it?

For me the immediate issue is keeping the players inspired and motivated and I am sorry but a low level coach is not going to do that in the short term.

Think you'll find it was a bit more than that. £22million apparently. £23 won't go very far.

£23 in Gully's back burner might keep him on the bench with Crofts a bit longer though, until the new team is brought in.

Don’t get hung up on Poch, it was just an example. There are plenty of other top quality coaches we could attract.

My point is we don’t have to settle for ugly sister anymore.

Absolutely. It will have to be someone who can bring on youngsters, keep everyone happy but also get respect from the full internationals. Just how "left field" a guy who has to coach Danny Welbeck and Adam Lallana (whilst also mentoring the latter) can be Tony can be the judge of. But it certainly won't be Poch either.

I think there's maybe a problem of thinking the next manager should be befitting of our league position, when in reality it's more likely to match our philosophy of maximum value and punching above our weight.

A big name would not only demand big wages but also big bucks spent on players, not our style.

De Zerbi would be very interesting. Did a cracking job at Sassuolo and he’s very highly thought of as a young up and coming coach.

Also showed he had real balls and moral integrity in Ukraine.
