The players are probably a bit disillusioned. Whoever comes in would need to have the authority to instantly gain respect . Get everyone on board immediately .
A lot of our players are punching so tactically new manager needs to be something very special .

Actually don’t think it’s an attractive job . Whoever comes in will be judged against potter and top half finishes / Europe . We are unlikely to stay there with the resources so it’s not an easy job . In many ways they only way is down from our position . The same reAsons it’s the right time for potter to go for him . If and when we dip from here then he might not get this chance again .

Emma hayes lol - no thankyou . Worst suggestion imo .

Pretty sickening all of it .

God knows what we are going to look like Saturday .

Be happy it happened rather than sad it’s over
Some players might be relieved Lamptey is one.

Potter’s on £2m, Rodgers £10m. Add Rodgers assistants.

Would TB pay that level?

I guess the question is would a sacked Rodgers command that price and does Bloom think he's worth the money? If we are going to get £16 million for Potter et al it's possible Bloom feels now is the time to redirect that straight into the contract of a new manager. Does feel unlikely though. I have no idea how much a top, young European manager would want, but clearly there's a lack of talent about so we might have to pay more to consolidate Potter's work.

No. Not unless he get sacked by Nottingham.

Any manager moving from one PL club to another would expect a higher wage at their new job, and Brighton won't do it.

If GP leaves it will be someone who is currently not employed in the PL.

Another one who can be ruled out is Pochettino. It is absurd to believe that he's going from last managing PSG to managing Brighton.

Knutsen’s name has cropped up several times for other simalirish sized clubs as ours.
Do you know much about him ? What style of football ? He sounds quite Brighton .

Re Poch. It was absurd (on a different level ) for Mark Hughes to go from Premier League stalwart to league two but it happened. Absurd things happen in football. Liam Brady Brighton manager - that was absurd too. Poch is an unlikely but not impossible appointment.

Cooper would be a logical replacement but you are prob right that it’s unlikely with him at forest

What a daft post. If she were chosen it would be because she was the best candidate, not because she was a woman. Do you really think that Tony would throw away his money on a flight of fancy?

Hayes has an impressive CV. a really impressive CV. Like Potter, she has a degree. Like Potter, she's worked abroad in the highly competitive US league; like Potter, she has European experience and like Potter, she's renowned as an excellent people manager. She also has a background in a non-footballing business to give her a wider perspective. She has also been women's manager of the year three times.

Of course, she hasn't got a PL background (but then, neither had Potter) but I'd imagine that if she were chosen, she'd surround herself with people who did.

I have no idea whether she'd on the shortlist but, sooner or later, one club will look seriously at her. I think that Wimbledon were looking at her last year but she knocked that idea on the head quite quickly, saying that it was a downward step. The PL may not be though.

I would bloody love this. If the CV is that good and if TB feels that our squad are mature enough for such an appointment, then it would be fantastic. Brighton are just the club to break the mold like that.

So much better than suggestions such as Russel Martin and also better right now than a Bruno Lallana type combo I'd have thought

Not only should the transfer window happen during the close season so should it apply to managers, pretty bleeding obvious to me!

Behind the scenes the systems and tactics that Potter applies will be known through the club. While Potter is a great manager, these won't be unique, so Brighton's selection process can be targeted in finding another manager who applies similar principles to their management. Could turn up a relative unknown again. However we have the luxury of having a style and system in place that the players all buy into and is proving to be very successful.

It's almost a unique position to be in when recruiting a manager because it's not often your doing on a wave of success.

This thread is relevant more than ever now. My choice would be Knutsen, seems like a smart choice.

Just listening to 5live.

Pat Nevin said, and I paraphrase that Potter will go to Chelsea to change the whole ethos of the club, making them, well, like us to be honest.

Just a thought, unless they are coming for Tony Bloom and Paul Barber I think they’ve got the wrong end of the stick.

Danny Cowley has a lot of potential with Portsmouth top of League One. He also got Lincoln City promoted back into the football league and as a non-league side, got the club the furthest to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time in about 100 years. Arsenal thumped them 5-0 at the Emirates. :)

I think he'd be a good choice but nothing's done yet. I hope Potter stays with Brighton. An excellent, well-run club.
