None of those appeal and I dont think it will be one of them. There is some dark horses out there that TB</PB etc have been tracking and who will soon be unveiled whilst we all furiously look them up on Wikkipedia and then spout off as if we knew all about them all along!

I've whittled it down to realistic choices, those who I saw queing outside the Amex this morning.
Got to take your hat off to the club, that's impressive work.

I'm going to say Mackay has already gone to Norwich. Zola, as class as he'd be, is too close to Poyet. He's probably heard a few horror stories. I'd go for Steve Clarke by a country mile if Mackay has indeed been snapped up.

I like the humour of slipping Avram Grant in there.

Nobody banging the drum for Paul Clement? Would seem to fit the profile of our past appointments, and I'm sure he's built up some impressive contacts in his time as Ancelotti's right-hand man. Ancelotti clearly rates him very highly, or else he wouldn't have taken him from Chelsea to PSG then Real as his assistant.

This Guardian article from last year (when he was at PSG) also makes him sound like someone who'd suit us.

Paolo Di Canio. Some will be disgusted by the suggestion, citing fascist salutes, etc.. Many will find the proposal ridiculous. I've supported Sunderland over fifty years and never been more excited by any manager we've had, including Stokoe and Poyet. He was treated abysmally by SAFC and you'd have to be prepared for the media to launch a collective assault on B&HA for having the nerve to appoint the "certified, egotistical, fascist luney" as they like to call him. Give him two years to mould the squad as he'd like it and you'd be in the top flight.
It hasn't taken long for Gus to be linked with other jobs by the way.

Great player but manager, no. The way he publicly lambasted his team at both Swindon and Sunderland was unprofessional. He's too unpredictable to have that level of responsibility.

Fox has applied for the job before and has international management pedigree which may be a factor. Having been knocked back before though I fear he may not apply this time.
