9 points. I'm starting to wonder at which game we'll be crowned champions. I'm away mid-April so I'll be gutted if it's then.

The way we are playing and the standard of the opposition, I will be disappointed if we don't get maximum points.

7 points from that lot. Not sure where we'll slip up but you can't win every game.

Southampton is the first game I think we might actually lose.

I'd bet anything I've got that we'll win at Southampton, probably by at least two goals. That's another game that will suit us perfectly. In fact, I can't see any team playing into our hands as much this season as Southampton will.
Interestingly, I know what you mean. They will press and press because they have something to prove, having been outclassed last season. We'll stroke the ball about, frustrate them, and get behind them.

However, I do seriously think we're going to f*** up at the back at some point, perhaps get caught in possession or something, and Southampton have the strikers to take advantage. As an aside, when this does happen, it'll be interesting to see how our defenders react in other matches. I hope they don't stop the death by passing.

Anyway, I only think we might lose because we have to lose at some point.

So you're playing down our chances then? :p

Yes, I think it will be early April so my worry about being away in mid-April is playing things down a little.

we should be aiming to win all 3.. there'll come a point in the season when we have a tough run of fixtures and may well drop points so while we have these "easier" fixtures we should be looking to take maximum points..

Also note that what i was getting at in this thread is that a lot of the promotion challengers have got tricky games / playing eachother so we really could put a bit more daylight between us and 2nd / 3rd (most importantly) and 7th (still very important if we do have a tits up run)

We'll win both the home games without too much trouble, but I think Hartlepool away is exactly the sort of game we could trip up in. I predicted wins at Charlton and Peterborough weeks ago because I knew those matches would suit us down to the ground. Team near the top + big crowd + high expectation + win demanded by manager and fans = have to come out and have a go at us. The result of that is we just outpass them and find not much to beat when we get to their defence. Hartlepool will be totally different. Even as a home team they will get men behind the ball and make it a MESS. I would take a point.

Makes sense, Win the home games draw the away and win the odd one = promotion

All rather winnable - 7 points would be good.

Exeter H
Hartlepool A
Brizzle R H

But our promotion rivals have some tricky tests and many are playing eachother and points will def be dropped - highlighted below:

We could def really turn that screw if we keep the run going :albion1:

I think you've been a bit harsh in excluding some teams e.g Rochdale but including Swindon who are lower.

Looking at the next 3 games i think every team has got an opportunity to slip up and if we can get all 9 points then we should extend the gap.

The league is far too close to call who will finish where at the moment. And I'd expect by the end of November that groups of teams will start to break away from each other and we will see a clearer picture about who may be challenging for Promotion, playoffs and relegation

Also must remember that Hartlepool and Tranmere are the only other 2 teams to have kept a clean sheet against Peterborough, suggesting they may park the bus and settle for a goalless draw.... 7 points would be great but 9 is what I'm expecting
