I hate to admit it but I've got into it working out here. Looking forward to the games on Sunday. There is real needle between the Chargers & Pat's.
The QB for San Diego, Rivers, has full on rows with the spectators; he'd get f***ing lynched at Withers!

Did you see him last week against Indy? Im sure it will come back on him one day. Cant see the superbowl being anything other than Green Bay against New England. No one can beat Green Bay in Green bay at this time of year and New England are just too good for San Diego.

I've always liked the Packers. Originally just because the name was different and it was the only NFL club that came from place that I'd never heard of. Then I found about about the club's set up and that they are owned by the town so no cigar chewing republican bastard can suddenly decide he is going to move the club to Dead Squaw Nevada or wherever. Then I read about Vince Lombardi & the 1st 2 Super Bowls. Then there is the weather there in winter and the fact they actually have some history as opposed to several of the NFL teams .

Oh; and the big f***ing 'G' on their helmets. I REALLY like that.

Yeah I saw it. When he came out from the locker room after being checked out for a knock he basically walked around in front of the Indy fans taunting them. Then he was going right up to the fans & almost "offering them out".

The only thing I dislike about the Pat's is that coach. I've never seen a more boring personality in sport. San Diego have been mouthing off this week so I think New England will be opening up a can of whoop ass on 'em!

Another Packer fan, here.
On Mondays I go to their web-site and watch 5 (or so) minute highlights of the previous nights game.
It's there for all to see, no special licence, no extra fee, no threat of legal action, it's almost as if they want to publicise the fact they are playing a sport 'for the people'.
That will never catch on.

I don't think anyone will come anywhere near the Patriots this year. I have serious doubts that even Green Bay would make it closer than the giants would. The Pats have an insane defensive and offensive line, and sparing any mishaps, Brady will make it a pure showcase. Against the Eagles, i know they didnt exactly excel, but im sure they'll further tighten up for the Superbowl.
If the Pats have one weakness it's the cornerbacks (can't remember the starters names) covering the inside. I've seen a fair few touchdowns scored against the Pats when the play is a short yardage pass and the receivers take an outside route and then cut inside to take the pass. It does rely on the quarterback throwing the ball through traffic and thus risking an interception and it does rely to an extent on the rest of the Pats secondary misreading the play and assuming a run.

I'm not saying the cornerbacks are weak; they usually keep the outside locked down and they cover the long pass well, but there ARE gaps. Can't wait for the game.

Hobbs and Samuel?

There is nothing wrong with them and Samuel is one of the best in the NFL :bla:

the weather last week was awesome i was looking through the slideshow and thinking how if we ever had that here the game of football would be off but they nfl carry on. i wouldn't fancy rolling around in short sleeves in that snow. i should hate the packers but i hope they go all the way.

who is commentating on the superbowl on bbc anyone know?

not long until the bafl kicks off. been to watch a few rookie days here and there. noticed a few clubs have started youth and younger rosters. our local club only go down to youth 16-18 but some have younger. my boy is desperate to play.

Starry, who is your local side, and how old is your lad? Presumably if he's under 16 he'd be playing 5v5 flag, which is easy and cheap as hell to organise. Most senior sides have a young flag side, and if not, it probably only needs a parent or someone who's willing to supervise the whole thing (need not be a coach, although theres a pretty simple NFL Flag Communty Leader badge thats easy to get), so I'd have a word with your local side.

Theres usually enough kids around the club (players sons etc) that once someone is willing to run it there'll be enough bodies to field a team, and its a wicked introduction to the game - how I got started!

If he's over 12 he should still be able to train kitted football with the youth team, just not play in BYAFA games.

Yeah that sounds about right, I started playing kitted with the youth team at 15. Was training with the adult team just before I was 16 and then destroyed my knee. Im looking to go back again hopefully this season or maybe next.

I'm well aware of that. You don't go 16-0 with a sub-standard secondary. What I was saying that in soccer terms they 'offer the outside' knowing that they've got that locked down. The one potential chink is to take them on through the middle when they're expecting you to go wide.

With the windchill it is currently -31c in Green Bay. And by tonight's game, the sun will have gone down . . .

. . . worth remembering next time someone complains of being cold at Withdean.

I bet not many stay in their seats at halftime. But I also bet the TV cameras will find some cheeseheads with no shirt on.

'Home' team confirmed as one of either. Tampa Bay, Seattle, Kansas City or New Orleans

NFL UK bloke says it won't be a divisional game and will be inter-conference which has put paid to my hopes for Kansas v Denver and the Broncos aren't away to either of the other three next season.
