I rememebr meeting you all there for the Chrimbo thing. The bacon burgers were immense. So is the fort staying open then?

I love Newhaven Fort.

As a kid, if me and my brother were asked where we wanted to go on a sunday afternoon, we both reply "Newhaven Fort!" every time.

Back in the 80's, I went there one Christmas Eve and the old boy on duty clearly had been enjoying a bit of festive spirit and was single-handidly distributing the contents of the gift shop to the few customers he'd had that day

Yep. It's being leased out by the Council but has to remain as a tourist attraction. Great news.

Took my Nan up there a while back and took her into the air raid simulator and she got really emotional. Really enjoyed a trip back to her youth. Lovely stuff.

Get down there people.

Excellent stuff. Well done on giving your Nan some PTSD flashbacks.

Boring By Sea
A night where my view of the band was substancially improved by standing outside rather than inside!

The stage was non existent from what I remember- they just played at one end of the cafe. Think Eamon was still playing for them then- such great days!

We cycled over to newhaven regularly as kids in the 70s. The place was a wreck. Rubble everywhere but we'd spend all day playing war and discovering tunnels. Great times but I've never been back. Might drop in for a look one day in spring.

This thread has encouraged me to visit very soon. Hope the cafe there is still doing hot puddings.

My Sons school are going there Wednesday for a field trip. Great place, not as impressive as Shoreham fort but close. :)

Newhaven Fort has far more to see and do. Interactive stuff etc. I dont think there is much at Shoreham to be honest.
