I suspect the dismissals of duckett and Crawley last night will be how they keep getting knocked over in the ashes. I just don’t think they have the skill to cope with Cummins, hazelwood and Starc.

I don’t think it is impossible that we might end up with bairstow and buttler opening. Imagine if they come off!

Settle down to watch and enjoy the birth of a cricketing superstar. Brook is going to rewrite records and get the whole world talking about him. I haven't seen this level of talent for a very long time. We can build our future around him. Bloody hell, its exciting.

I was lucky enough to be in Pakistan watching him and now in NZ. He's an amazing player to watch, he never appears in any trouble and scores runs quickly. It's hard to believe what we're watching.
I escort supporters tour groups for my job, young Mr Brook certainly makes my job easier. 12 months ago in the West Indies under Silverwood was desperately depressing. This new regime led by Stokes and McCullum is a joy for all of us.

I’ve got tickets for at least part of all the Ashes tests this summer. Having watched England a lot over the years, home and away, am I alone in fearing that Bazball could come a cropper against the Aussie pace attack and Lyon this summer? They will obviously be looking at what we are currently doing and developing plans accordingly, whatever happens it’s not going to be dull!

I was relieved last night to see how we pulled it back from 21-3 because my fear is that in the summer 21-3 quickly becomes 67-7. I was at the Lord’s test in the summer to see our only defeat in this good run, lucky me, at which point I feared the worst although so far those fears have not been justified. I was also at Headingley for all 4 days for the Ashes test in 2019 seeing us getting skittled in the first innings, looking like we had no hope, and then watching the brilliances of Stokes turn it around so it can still go either way but we do have real match winners in the team these days which hasn’t always been the case.

Dream job, absolutely! Who is that for (if you can say)? I’ve seen England overseas about 20 times, often thought I’d like to do it for a living!!

He looks to me like Joe Root did during his purple patches, but obviously by thst stage Root was a well-seasoned and established international. If he's looking as good as that now, and he's still to gain all the experience Root had to become even better...blimey.

Have to say, you lot appear to have found an absolute gem with Brook. And Root is the perfect foil at the other end - I would expect the next few years will see plenty of big partnerships from those two.

I was lucky enough to bump into @Change at Barnham at the Liverpool game and we briefly discussed 'the job'. I'm sure its hard work at times, but it must have given you so many fantastic memories. Who else can say that about their job?

Brook has a slightly gaudy average at present, poor old Joe not even 50... :lolol:
I'm waiting to see how he copes with the Aussies. That's the test. He may have to reign in his hooking because they will target him with the short pitched stuff.

He's clearly quality, there is no doubt. It's just hard to assess his actual level after just a long rubber of Tests against par attacks.

Lesser spotted SIX from Root, obviously they have been told to get on with it before rain comes later on.
