63/3 of 38!! overs.
This game is of a different era:mad: Boycott and Tavare would be enjoying this.

29 off the next 20 overs, the rates even slower! A rare four in that last over- byes, the ball bounced and never got above ankle height.

43-1 in that session off 31 overs.

I'd argue Ben Stokes is now England's best batsman and most prized wicket. What a brilliant cricketer he is.

Great deserved win for NZ. And I thought Santner wasn't good enough to make the team.

I don't think Root should be captain. He just hasn't worked. The problem is who to replace him? I think my vote goes to Butler

A lot has been said about the Kookaburra ball but can somebody explain what the great difference is between that any other ball and how it will either benefit or hinder Englands chances.

Revisiting this thread after the latest test match humiliation, I would say that the major difference with this ball is that our batsmen seem to be unable to score centuries with it and our bowlers cannot bowl a side out. (Unlike our opponents.)

Strangely though, the visiting sides seem to be fine using the Dukes ball when playing in England!

What a pathetic performance in what the experts described as a perfect batting wicket and given the choice one you would want for the 5th day of a test. I wonder is it time to consider Joe Roots position as a captain, which he has shown to be not very good,. Even as a batsman who is woefully out of form and perhaps needs a rest. and a new challenge if dropped.

We need his talents as a batsman. He used to be considered one of the mighty foursome of Smith, Kohli and Williamson, now he may as well buddy up with Monty Panesar, Chris Martin and Me!

I think SIlverwood was a dreadfl choice as coach the latest failure straight out of the County Championship. I'd also drop Root and probably give Broad the captaincy. What an absolute shambles these clowns are.

And Chris Silverwood's tenure as Head Coach gets off to an absolute stinker. The opposite of a "new coach bounce".

There's quite a lot wrong in English Cricket at present. Root is part of it, but there's a lot more besides. Archer looks as if he'd rather be somewhere else. English batsmen get themselves out far too often. Toothless in attack. We're just not "at it".

What, the Buttler that was out for a duck, leaving one that smashed into his off-stump?

I agree. With Giles the head honcho, Silverwood at the helm and Root an out of form captain the operation has the look of the clown-car about it.

Fair play to New Zealand who came out after lunch, varied their bowling going wide of the crease, throwing in knuckle balls, short-pitched deliveries and holding one worldie of a catch to dismiss Pope.

It doesn't bode well that with Silverwood in charge the pace pair of Broad and Archer had shockers and NZ racked up their highest total against us in test history.
