well he's bigger than anything else we've had...apart from Rougier and his 12 + 1inch :lolol:

Is that right? Another unkown then, is this what we've got to look forward to this season? Does it say what position he plays?

Shouldn't get too stresed about being unknown......eg, Peter ward, BZ, Mike Small to name but a few...all unknown before they joined the Albion. Give me a potential unknown anyday rather than some over the hill has been looking for an easy payday at the withdean rest home...eg Kitson, Kennedy, Willie Young for example. All "names" but a waste of space in their time at the Albion. (IMO).....

Giallanza's Contract Not To Be Renewed [24/05/02]

Striker Gaetano Giallanza has been informed that his contract will not be renewed by the Club when it expires at the end of June.

Gaetano joined the Canaries from FC Nantes in March 2000 initially on loan before signing the following July. He then suffered an horrendous cruciate injury against Sheffield United in October 2000 and has not been able to play since that date.

Doug Livermore, Assistant Manager paid tribute to Gaetano saying "Gaetano has been a model professional and has been very unfortunate with his injury. We wish him the very best for his future".

Chief Executive, Neil Doncaster commented "Gaetano's situation was discussed at last night's Board Meeting and the decision was taken not to renew his contract. It was clear from discussions with Gaetano's agent that the player was looking for a long-term contract. Given the Club's current financial situation, following Carlton and Granada'a actions in relation to ITV Digital, that is simply something the Club could not do. Gaetano is well liked throughout the Club - everyone at Carrow Road and Colney respects and admires the courageous way which Gaetano faced his injury and his long lay-off".

Off of Brightonfans.com...

Just one Giallanza...

"Just one Giallanza, Give him to me, our swiss born striker, from Italy, his goals are just supreme, give me Giallanza in Yella'n'Green"

Swiss Tano has to be one of the unluckiest players ever to pull on teh yellow and green, he looked sharp when he joined us, pacy and quick with an eye for goal, he ruputured his cruciate ligament and it took him 18 months to recover after numerous set back, the club stood by him while he was injured but didn't offer him a new contract when money was tight last summer. He was a fans favourite a popular player and I'm sure every Norwich fans wishes him luck in earning a contract with Brighton!

Coppell seems to like him from what the official site says, although this injury is gonna be the make or break thing for him I think.

i'm worried about the injury he had. players are never as good after such bad injuries. He is a striker though, and if he doesn't make it , Sir steve won't waste money on him.

Should'nt we be looking for someone with a bit more pedigree than this. Two and a half weeks to go and another trialist who's record makes Kitson seem one of our best signings in recent years.
Come on SC, surely we can do better than this.
