HOW did WORTHING get the finance for a £20 million facility?! The centre looks brilliant and I hope the public get good use out of it. Just can't understand why Brighton struggles to get facilities of this standard - Prince Regent is a complete **** hole and its still £4.30 a time!...

It's an utter disgrace that we do not have decent leisure facilities in Brighton yet Worthing, Burgess Hill and Crawley have fantastic developments that people travel to rather than go to the outdated Prince Regent and the festering crap hole that is the King Alfred. I was told how they had a huge cockroach infestation in there the other week yet were still letting customers in. Oh and maggots on the swim floats. Nice.

It is nice. Still think there are some design faults, and some other issues but they will be worked out over time.

Not sure why they spent so much money on that roof either.

It's good but in my opinion they have spent too much on what it looks like and not enough on the facilities, style over substance if you like. It's just too small, the pool itself is 25m but when you have swim classes, water aerobics and all that going on there is not enough room. The diving pool is good but becasue of the movable flor this doubles up as a teaching pool.

The fun pool for the kids has a slide etc but again is too small.

Everytime me and my boy go down there we have to queue up to get in and then are restricted to 90 mins.

I would have preferred something bigger and not really fussed what it looks like.

As for finance, it replaces the old Aquarena next door which is in a prime seafront location and has been sold off to help pay for it, no doubt it will be another block of flats!

Not knowing much of the politics for construction in Brighton is this a long standing issue in Brighton to get a decent set of facilities? Is it inherent of the problems that Amex had in getting built? As Oscar said... All the surrounding areas have top notch arenas for swimming etc - and as a keen swimmer it would be superb to have access to decent pool : (

My understanding is that it is being criticised quite a bit. Unfortunately they've missed the opportunity of having a competition standard pool which would have generated further income. Looks ok though.

If they stopped letting people in until they got rid of the Roaches then nobody would ever set foot in there again.

Makes me feel old that I just about remember the Aquarina opening. As my dad was head of sports at a Worthing school, he was invited to the opening.

As it happens (boys and girls) one of my customers is a swimming tutor there. ( Handy I suppose what with it being a swimming pool).

She tells me that the original budget was cut mid build and behind the scenes it is crap for the money.

They have done a 'swap' with the developer for the Aquarena site which will become a monster block of seafront flats

Unfortunately I have to agree with what others have said, despite looking forward to the opening it appears to be style over substance.

The main finance was put in place some time ago and not just, as others have said, because of the land from the current Aquarena. There were several plots of land sold off including the old sailing club at Goring and this money was ring-fenced for the swimming pool. The town has very little left to sell though so people had better make the most of this.

The Stat's went yesterday, and very much approve.

Even though it's 'just' The Triangle's little bro, it's still considerably better than the rectangle hole in the ground that is our local 'boring' pool.

Prince Regent? Think yourself lucky. I remember when it was North Road Swimming Baths ....

I also remember when the King Alfred was salt water....
