I assume the layout of the space will be adjusted on a case by case basis - it would seem the sensible thing to do on a match day would be to have no seating downstairs which would maximise space and free flow of people.

I guess it may be that downstairs is general entry and first-come-first-served, with the upstairs being paid-for memberships, meaning those members won't need to rush to secure entry, as it will be guaranteed due to the fixed number of memberships sold.

How much would people be prepared to pay for a season ticket for that?

i'm assuming the ground/downstairs will be freely open, a covered version of the present bar and food options. upstairs a larger Dicks replacment. all limited access will be net loss of facilities.

The 'loss' of Dick's Bar will hopefully lead to something being done about the Museum. It's a tragedy that access to this is SO difficult.

I spoke to Paul Barber this week. I am not sure Dick's is going.

But I did ask him about the museum (before I read your post). To me, it's one of the (few) disappointments of the stadium that the museum is tucked out of the way, out of sight and almost out of mind. He intends to look at that. I suggested maybe putting the museum in the city.

I got the impression it's not a priority, but it is something they will be looking at, possibly with a view to dotting artefacts around the stadium. Whatever, nothing is decided, but they are aware of the problem, My suggestion is if several, many or a lot of people write to him about this issue. It might get it put further up the agenda.

The museum doesn't actually "belong" to the Albion though, surely? They have, of course, provided space for it at the Amex, but it was the brainchild of @The History Man and was (and is) created, curated and in every other way managed by the Brighton and Hove Albion Heritage Society.

Didn’t they try some sort of paid-for pre-match drinking bar a few seasons ago and had to quickly bin off due to almost no one taking up the offer? Not sure what’s different this time around.

This suggests upstairs will be for American Express Card holders. Taking this further, it could be inferred that Amex will contribute towards some of the costs, as they did for the Amex lounge in the south east corner.

Not really sure we need a fanzone. Surely that new development could be used as a meet and greet/drop off area for Corporate and 1901 customers with canapés and the like on offer, before they are escorted up to one of the many lounges and comfy seats and away from the riffraff? It’s the future, I tell you!

I have thought for years that Tony Bloom should buy the Seven Stars pub in Brighton and turn it into a fan bar and museum.

(Assuming that is the building where the club was founded.)
