No chance, Cheesewright.
They are an alright pop band with a decent history, but are fronted by an out-of-tune muffler.
Not rubbish, but don't outrageously tickle my fancy.
Give me something more freezingly tender or mercilessly savage any day.
Ian Curtis had one of the worst voices I think Ive ever had a lead singer have, all part of the great Joy division sound mind but not a reason to put New Order down who were pretty great at the start as well ...
See I reckon New Order had more good SONGS than Joy Division, but I still much prefer JD. Why?
Because Joy Division was all about a mood, an atmosphere, that just seemed quite alien at the time and has now become massively influential, more influential than New Order.
Made some great records but have been poor on the occassions that I have seen them live. Saw them once when Technique had just come out and really wanted them to be good but it wasnt to be.
also like The Jam , UB40 , Simple Minds , Happy Mondays , The Stone Roses , The Charlatans , Oasis , The Verve , Starsailor etc , all of which are/were better live than Neworder. Still they had a place in my youth and teenage years
joy division are were better than new order, so were the smiths, the stone rose and the kings of leon plus many other bands, but new order are still very good.
