Enough said? As for “We’ve got Knockaert, Just don’t think you understand??" Understand what? WTF?

Just to be pedantic, it's from the original song, so not really wtf at all.

Totally agree. The players held his shirt aloft and some went to the funeral of a man they probably hadn't met, what more sycophantic things can people think up to do for our best player (I'm not in any way suggesting people are being sycophantic so he'll feel obligated to stay at the club if we don't get promoted !).

Did the players not go to give support to AK ?

I am all for giving the new song a a bash. If it makes us that little bit more original than other clubs with a chant, and more the point if its loud and catches on then that is great. I just wish we could come up with similar songs for some of the others . Beram Kayal for example singing the Christmas Carol Noel

manufactured atmosphere like the chumps up the road. Also leaves us open to be ridiculed on TV and in front of 3k away fans. Cringe .

Stick to the usual song. Do it on 11 minutes if you must but lets not mug ourselves off and look like wet melts

It's dull every time someone dies whether it's a fan or a family member that people feel the need to go way beyond what's needed. The players/management etc went to the funeral/players celebrated with Knocky's shirt at Bristol and fans sang his name. isn't that enough?

It really does get to much these days. Move on and get behind the team against Villa.

Totally missed the point...woosh!

It's all organic. It'll either take off at the game in real-time or it won't. Some over-elaborate internet-based thing is doomed to failure. A bit like the NSK really.

Personally I think being there and cheering on our team is tribute enough. I cannot bear all this grief/social media/look at me/I'm a better fan/more upset than you wankery. It screams of narcissists on Facebook.

I bizarrely liked the Kayal song to the tune of Que Sera Sera that someone once posted, but it never caught on.

It's great that people are prepared to try new songs, and as has been mentioned whether they catch on or not is nothing to do with the internet or even whether they're any good or not - they either do catch on or they don't.

The timing isn't very good though. Whilst I accept that the concept was thought up before the sad news about Knocky's dad, doing it on Friday does make it look like it's one of those cringeworthy over-emotive, grief porn responses to personal tragedy that are sadly all too common nowadays.

Just my view which I appreciate won't be universally shared.

Knocky will be pre-programmed to recognise and acknowledge his now-traditional song. Anything new won't even register. Besides, he'll be WAY too focused on busting the net in memory of his dad. Love the bloke.

I think the whole Amex crowd should cry uncontrollably for the full 90 minutes. If after this we still don't feel we have done enough, we should all indulge in some serious self-harming whilst singing ' The Marseillaise'.

Can we tie this tribute in with Diana ? After all, she perished in the EXACT SAME COUNTRY that Anthony was born in. And unless I am very much mistaken, 2016 marks the 19th anniversary of her death. How about we all link arms in the 19th minute and sing:

We love you Knockaert, we do
We love you Knockaert, we do
We love you Knockaert, we do
Diiiiiana, love you too

Won't be a dry eye in the house.

Once more, with feeling. The song was NOT written last week, as a tribute to AK's dad. It was first posted on NSC on 15 August.

It was meant as an alternative to the deeply unoriginal Paddy McCourt song that's currently in use. But, as others have said, these things either take off, or they don't. If our fans choose to stick with a comfy knock-off from other clubs, rather than try something that would become a totally unique Albion song celebrating a great player, then so be it.

I'm with this.
Its a new song for Knocky which with the exception of the ManU Cantona song is at least original.
Every game you see on Sky, which ever division, features the Achy Breaky Heart song, even non league teams in last weekends FA cup sing the same song
Just for once it would be good to say, We created that song, and let others follow our lead.

As for the last line, how about " Le Petit Magicien"
All we need now is an ex Sheffield Wednesday fan with a trumpet:eek:

A bit familiar isn't it? Nous vous aimons would be more appropriate

......... but we are a football club, and I think in this context it might be acceptable.

It's really difficult to get new songs going, I don't think you or the other bobble hatters on this thread understand the dynamics of getting a crowd to learn a song and this comment reflects that.
People don't just make a decision on the spot, the song needs to be repeated and spread around the fanbase and that takes time and effort. The only way you'll do it is if you beg the police box crew to take it on board and keep trying until others join in or you and The Large One stand in the middle of the North with the other singers and try to get it going.

You can't just put a poem and a youtube video online and instantly expect the 1000 or so people learn it and break out into song, the vast majority in the ground will have no knowledge of your video, that's why I'm saying it won't work. Posting songs on NSC has been tried many times before and it never ever works. "Hammond-do-do-do chase a cockney up a tree" was more catchy, and that dreadful leaflet with the jazz hands picture had more support, as astonishing as that is!
