Right here, right now
You ask me what my problem is and then call me cluelss, thanks pal.

Teams like Wednesday are signing quailty FREE TRANSFERS like Heffernan,Posh signing Grant McCann etc.Players that everyone has heard of and would love us to sign.Instead we sign a player called Poke that no one has heard of.He isn't even 3rd choice at Saints ffs.
If you are going for free transfers at least go for quality.I'm still waiting for Bloom to spend otherwise it's mid table for us.

Yea and our history of signing non league players is great is it? We have a long list of complete failures.Lets not go there eh?

There's an old saying...

You have to speculate to accumulate.

And when you're in League One and trying to run a financially well managed and sound club you have to look at non-league clubs as an avenue of finding new players every now and then.

In fact you'd be not doing your job as a scout/manager if you weren't keeping an eye on non-league players for potential signings.

3 players signed so far all for nothing.Hardly a team going for promotion is it?

Clueless comment! I have seen Poke on several occasions and he has been top class. The fact that player costs nothing does not mean he is no good. Are you 15? because you seem to have no knowledge of how running a business/club works, or would you like us to be in Portsmouth's position in 5 years. There has to be balance and the side that got us back to back promotions were hardly a side full of expensive signings and stars were they?(although Zamora has since become one) and shall i refer you to Blackpool..........I rest my case. Just Let Poyet assemble a side and see how they do

In fairness, Holroyd cost nowhere near £100K (nearer £60K) and we made a profit from both Elder and Revell so it is not all bad. I think what people are trying to say is that you shouldn't assume that players are crap just because they come from non league. Our scouting system will improve a lot under Gus and I would say that puts us in line for better players from the lower level hopefully.

Looking at the impact they had last season, I would put keeping Calderon and signing Painter for free at least on a par with the signings of McCann, Heffernan etc. Good teams always build from the back and if we can get an experienced centre half, we will have a fantastic defence for next season.

As for Poke, with the form that Brezovan finished the season in, we didn't need a first choice keeper and it wasn't a position that we should be spending a lot of money on. Poyet seems to have got us a talented young keeper who Torquay fans rate and have no doubt he will make the step up to League 1. Why not take their word for it rather than moaning that we should be signing better players?

Finally, why not wait until we have our complete squad together and have played a few games next season rather than moaning about every signing and lack of signings throughout the summer?

I asked my mate who is a Torquay fan about Poke and his description of him was 'fantastic' and 'far too good for league 2'. Considering my mate is not renowned for mincing his words, I think we can be confident we have a pretty decent keeper on our hands.

Sounds good

This guy will be challenging for the No1 shirt in my opinion, In no way will he be happy to sit on the bench for the season. Which is how it should be.
