Its almost like a spoof. They have actually become a parody of themselves.

A pencil. $99.

I'll say that again. $99.

Shall we put you down for two?

No great surprises yesterday - the new iPhones are the standard odd-year spec bump with a few extra frills. No real need for anyone with the current models to upgrade but they'll sell gazillions to those with a 5 or 5s.

I don't know what to make of the iPad Pro as it's certainly not aimed at me. Our iPad Air and iPad Mini are just glorified video players for the kids.

I do like the look of the new Apple TV though. We used to have an Apple TV a few years back but now have a Mac Mini connected to the TV. I think we'll be switching back to the Apple TV now.

Except its not a pencil, is it? Its a device that they've named 'pencil'.

Please do - I'm in the market for some designer chopsticks. Aren't we all ?

They appear to have invented something that, in hushed tones, I've heard referred to as a "stylus". Intriguing.

I was asked to trial a prototype, which was all going well until I tried to sharpen it.

They will sell sheds loads of the "Pencils". It will soon be the cool thing for students to be seen with. People on trains will be jotting away with them on their new IPad Pros. After all they will not be able to understand how they survived without them...... Forget the iPhone the "Pencil" will be the thing to be seen with to be hip.....

I'm excited, I'll be adding the new Apple TV to my set-up at home and I'll be upgrading my phone and MacBook Air in the next few months.
I like the idea of the iPhone upgrade program. New iPhone every year but most are a 2 year contract. Some good PAYG deals out there for data. Might be the way forward.

A nice long event yesterday. Lots of interesting stuff.

Apple TV.
You can't deny that it is a very nice interface. I like how they've integrated third party apps into the interface directly too instead of going in and out of every app all of the time. Or remembering which service Game of Thrones is on.. But I'm struggling to see the justification of laying down $150 (£139??). The apps and siri are the major differentiator. Siri will be great as it gets more and more intelligent. But what apps will we need? Netflix and the like are already present on all smart tvs. And most kids who want to play games already have a console with a real controller. Live TV streaming would have been a nice addition. But the thought of sky, bbc etc adding an Apple TV app is pretty exciting.

The iPad Pro
Not for everyone. But I can see the benefits to some people. A regular iPad is still sometimes too small to get any real work done. With the accompanying keyboard, I could see myself using it instead of my work laptop. The new versions of MS Office are really great and paired with a keyboard this could well be a valuable business option. But $800+ for an iOS device is really pushing it. If you want any real storage options, you could just buy a retina Macbook Pro. Maybe I'll get one.. and leave it as Tesco

The Pencil
It looks like an extremely good input device for people who use a wacom. It's a very specific usage case. You have to paint to make it worth while IMO. $99 isn't crazy money either if you look at what else is on the market. I think the best use case for the iPad Pro is actually artists using the Pencil. The one obstacle they've got to overcome though is getting apps like Photoshop on the iPad to be a true substitute for the desktop version. Right now, they're not.

iPhone 6S
Pretty much what we expected. The 3D touch element is what's most exciting to me. It's not as revolutionary as Multi Touch, but it's going to really open up what you can do within the OS and app developers are going to go crazy for it. Once again they've improved on an already incredible camera. And 4k video is nice. The live photos thing is gimmicky but kinda cool. Overall, it's what we expected. The usual "S" bump with a few key features which might make you want to upgrade.

So yeah. I'll take one of everything please.

Frustrated that they haven't announced anything smaller than the iPhone 6. I've played with the 6 a number of times and it's too big for me. The 5 is a comfortable size, but I was out of contract in May so looking to move up/on?

My phone contract ends on Dec 6th, but I can upgrade later this month. So, having not been an apple user before, I might take the plunge, as long as the battery life is ok.

This. My contract is running down but there I don't want a massive phone, the 5 is the perfect size for me.
