Scotland will more than likely overtake England when the next rankings are released after there recent results and ours.

Well it's possible, the rankings are aload of bollocks anyway. England should never be seeded in Euro's and the World Cup.

Upon what do you base your extravagant assertion ?

England are rarely outside the top 10 in World rankings, have qualified for 12 out of the last 13 tournaments, and have progressed beyond the group stages in the vast majority of those. The fact that we invariably hit a wall at the quarter or semi final stages is neither here nor there. Our overall performances justify our seeding.

So ner.

Yeah we have qualified the last 12 out of 13

But what have we done there ???

Reached a few semi-finals

That was back in the day when people actually wanted to play for England and would do anything to, where as now-a-days it's just an extra pay packet and the slightest niggle then the player pulls out.

In my eyes, England aren't in the top 8 international teams, and they're the ones which should be seeded, along with the previous winners, who are more than likely to be in that top 8.

I'm not trying to claim England are worldbeaters, far from it.
But you can't just simply have EIGHT seeds in the world. There are 7 qualifying groups just for the Euros alone. And the World Cup has eight groups just for the FINALS themselves. There are 19 qualifying groups across the continents for the World Cup, and thats BEFORE you consider the groups that are set up before they convert to the League qualification formats in South America, Oceania and CONCACEF.

Previous winners are an irrelevence. Should Uruguay be permanently seeded cos they won it in 1930 and 1950 ?

Of course we should be seeded, we always seem to reach the quarter finals where we go out which makes us among the top 8 teams in the tournament.

Brazil and Argentina also went out at the same stage as England at the last World Cup...

In my eyes, England aren't in the top 8 international teams, .

They are if you consider the last three major international tournaments.

Quarter-finals in the World Cup in 2002 and 2006, and Euro 2004. That's 'last eight' to you and me. And face it, even then, we drew in the last two quarter-finals. If we weren't so shit at penalty shoot-outs etc...

However, what I don't understand is how all this bollocks is calculated. We lost to Croatia in a competitive match, and we go up three places, and they go down four. Nope, I've no idea either.
