Not to mention a football scout even though he knows fook all about the game.

I was a publican and also did some scouting for the managers of BHA from Alan Mullery through to Steve Coppell who brought in his own team of scouts so some must have respected my views on players, although that was years ago and time has moved on as has football in general.

I'm not bothered about Chicksen, but the other 4 players have been brilliant for us. We always wanted Zamora to come back to the club and he didn't let us down when he did. It was obvious we needed to strengthen the squad with youth, so it's no surprise that Greer Caldy and Crofts are leaving. It would just have been nice to have the chance to say goodbye.

If need be yes but have a firm deputy to Bong apart from LR who could be used as 3rd choice to start there but as I have said many times he was more important to us in other positions.

Although at that time we didn't have the options of Knocky and Skylark - they came inn after our personnel crisis around Christmas. Former PL left back Rosenior is quite adequate as a second choice LB for me - maybe even first choice if Bong never really gets back to where he was before his injury.

I am fed up with repeating this and nobody seems to be able to read. LR was ok and adequate at left back and no criticism of him or his play but we only had Chicksen or Calderon as back up to him so when he got njured after the deadline we were scuppered. It is my belief that we should have brought a left back in on a 1 month loan once the seriousness of Bongs injury was known and how long he would be out for and before the deadline so as to play him and allow us to play LR as a defensive right midfield in away games , which he had done very succesfully before Bong was injured. As it happened he got injured which nobody could have foreseen and we were scuppered again.

Funny you should mention him as I stopped to watch a school boys match in South London about 1968 ish and noticed this young left footed player playing at the back and got his name from a parent and suggested him to BHA. He was probably about 9 or 10 years old and yes it was Keny Sansom. He was apparently with a club though, so I was told, probably Palace.

Perhaps the Albion couldn't find anyone called Keny?

Is this Groundhog Day?

Not sure of the attraction of joining the current mess that is Charlton.
