I'm a bit worried. A new contract is often a prelude to a big money transfer, no?
Amortisation is to do with applying the transfer fee, salary is just spread over the term anyway but doesn’t really affect FFPA new contract is excellent news. Well done Evan, you richly deserve it.
On the signing for 8 years. Obviously this is unconfirmed, and very well might not be true in this instance, but did I remember the story correctly that UEFA / FIFA have changed the rules so that amortisation can now happen over a maximum of 5 years, however this will only apply for contracts signed after the end of this season, meaning that if you can get a long term contract signed before July, you can “take advantage” of this rule as Chelsea have?
That's true, however in this case there is nothing to amortise as there is no transfer fee. Or that's how I understand, a £100 a week is a £100 a week whether 1, 2 or 20 years.A new contract is excellent news. Well done Evan, you richly deserve it.

I would imagine he was on a young players contract and they are bringing in line with other senior player. Would be my guess any way.I'm a bit worried. A new contract is often a prelude to a big money transfer, no?
With a years option?Veltman is out of contract in June.
Only if you're Fabrizio Romano.I'm a bit worried. A new contract is often a prelude to a big money transfer, no?
No I'm Fabrizio Romano.Only if you're Fabrizio Romano.
Supposedly, but not yet announced that is happening. With a years option?
I'm Fabrizio RomanoNo I'm Fabrizio Romano.
Yes that's certainly true. That's true, however in this case there is nothing to amortise as there is no transfer fee. Or that's how I understand, a £100 a week is a £100 a week whether 1, 2 or 20 years.
Better than no contract and a small money transfer anyway!I'm a bit worried. A new contract is often a prelude to a big money transfer, no?
This……went from an U18 contract to an adult ‘squad’ contract on his 18th birthday I would think, now being upgraded to ‘first team regular’ contract……..I would imagine he was on a young players contract and they are bringing in line with other senior player. Would be my guess any way.
I think he is exploring his options. He spoke to Dutch media a couple of weeks ago saying he's happy here but isn't ruling out a move to Spain or Italy.Veltman is out of contract in June.
I’d imagine that’s because we are trying to negotiate a multi year deal rather than just exercising the one year option at this stage.Supposedly, but not yet announced that is happening.
Or a reward for a new role in the squad and security for both parties.I'm a bit worried. A new contract is often a prelude to a big money transfer, no?
I wonder what @Mustafa II ’s take on this is?
