having read all this thread and the one about the judge, I wonder if I have moved into another dimension.
this really is not the way to make friends and influence people is it.
none of this should really bother me as I cannot get to matches, it is PC gone absolutely mad and it does bother me that the club I love are being so petty with the supporters that are doing just that supporting the club, this especially with the football being as it is.

END OF RANT

off to bed now with my home-made clacker under my pillow hopefully to dream about how the club I love used to be
can the club management for Christs sake get a grip
This is not PC mate.

As I said above, the kids do not keep their games to a small area, they charge around after plastic bottles and regularly get in peoples way. They can be a pain in the arse sometimes, if you are trying to have a pint and pie after the game.

I'm all for them having a game, but all it needed was for the dads to tell them to keep out of peoples way.

I personally dont care, but a lot of people don't want kids running round bumping into them, kicking plastic bottle around their shins.

Its been happening for a couple of seasons. I dont think the club can be accused of being petty on this one!

Dim. What have a few junior school children enjoying a kickabout outside after the match got to do with any sort of creche...?

How about parents start entertaining and supervising their own kids, rather than inflicting them on everyone else just so dad can have a pint?

100% this. If your kids are bored, take them home or, god forbid, talk to them. And yes,I do have children; my son is intelligent and articulate probably because I have meaningful conversations with him all the time rather than saying "I'm on the piss now, here's an old bottle, **** off and annoy someone"

If this is in the concourses then I don't really see the issue.

There have been more than a few times where kids have been playing around and I've seen them run into people, knocking drinks & food all over. Not once has the accompanying adult ever said sorry or stopped it. Usually it's just a little 'kids ay, what can you do?' style shrug.

That said, if it's outside the ground, let them play, more than enough room.

Kids are now also banned from playing on the grass bank opposite the 7 stars bar. A 60 odd yr old and not very mobile steward was posted there to 'chase' the kids off. To be fair he did this with good humour. The poor bloke received a huge amount of good natured stick from those in the queue for the bar. It all turned into a bit of a farce in the end as having repeatedly ushered numerous kids down the grassy bank, then turning his back and struggling to climb back up the slope he would be followed by a load more kids who all then ran away every time he turned around. It ended up a bit like an Albion themed 'What's the time Mr Wolf'.

At last the club are providing something for the kids to do:wink:

Blimey your son has come up trumps in the lottery of life...

Option A: Have fun kicking a ball about with some other kids outside The Amex

Option B: Get taken home

Option C: Engage in articulate and intelligent conversation with one's father

What has this got to do with Political Correctness?

Aside from that inanity, I don't agree with it but I can see why they've done it. All it needed was for her parent's to show some slight interest in what their kids were doing in a public place something that appears above many people's understanding at the Amex.

If they want to kick a bottle about, do it outside. If my kid was running round indoors banging into people, knocking over drinks etc, I'd kick his arse. Luckily he knows better.

How many more people are going to join this thread and say "If the kids want a kickabout then they should do it outside"....???

The club have banned kids from having any sort of a kickabout outside after the game.

This was rigorously enforced on Saturday at about 5.30pm when there was pretty much zero risk to anyone's pie, pint, or personal safety.

But its not with a ball outside the amex is it. thats the issue.
Its with an empty bottle on the concourse. Too many parents get passed the ticket point and then let their kids run free. Its not a park, its a football stadium. Look after your kids and do your job as a parent.

Apologies. I didn't realise they'd banned it outside as well. Health and safety ay...

It's not rocket science is it? Not everybody wants dozens of other people's sprogs running about in an uncontrolled way when there are hundreds of people milling about-many with hot drinks in their hands.

You can bet your ass that if a kid gets showered by hot coffee/tea the parents will be looking for others to blame.

They're kids thats what kids do . I cant walk past a bottle with out kicking it . Its the natural instinct of a football fan

Quite. I love a kick about and kicking bottles. Only problem is I'm quite aggressive when I play, so if the red mist comes down and I rake your boy's shin or break his ankle, I'm sorry. It's just boys being boys...

Have you ever been in the ESL concourses? Three seasons for me and it has been a bloody nightmare sometimes. Thankfully moving over to WSL next season. The family stand, whilst a good concept, doesn't always work when parents abandon their responsibilities the moment they enter the stadium.

Inside a stadium concourse is simply not the place for a kickabout.

Reply from Paul Barber (22 minutes after I sent my e-mail to him...!)

"Dear [Moshe]

Thank you for your email.

I'm not aware of any ban on children playing football but I will investigate further by talking to the Safety Officer when I am able.

Personally, I have no problem with the kids playing outside but it is certainly not practical on the concourses, particularly when busy.

This wound me up, Kids have played outside the northstand for the last 3 seasons with no problem, a long time after final KO, the steards outside the northstand were being a complete nause. number 64 a short fat very ugly looking chap. picking on kids, who didnt really know what to say, then a few adults joined in and started kicking the ball about, turned into a bit of a farce, let them get on with it, they hurt nobody, only the drunk fools pride who try to get involved walking passed and make a prat of themselves.

hopefully this was just one douchebag of a steward and all will be back to normal at the next home game.
