Can I just confirm, at what age are you too old to have a players name on the back of your shirt?

Every time a new kit comes out I instantly want to get the shirt of my favourite player at the time (Calderon) but at 28 i'm now older than most of the players in the squad and thinking I might have to stop doing that now!

I'd go with when you are older than the player you want on the back of your shirt.

Why has Greer got a left back's number? Batti got a centre back's number? Spaz got a striker's number?

Batti is wearing 5 as its traditional in Argentina for a holding midfielder to wear this number.

He has always worn number 3. His 'lucky' shirt number. El Abd had it pre season so that's why he wore '30'.

Radostin Kishishev - the best player to ever don the number 25 shirt for Brighton? ???

Gordy Greer wore 6 at Swindon!>

Whatever happened to the old style numbering system?, Greer an old fashioned, head it, kick it style centre half wearing the left backs number, and Battipiedi a ball playing midfielder/winger wearing the number of the centre half? ... l dont think soooo.

Really? I stand corrected.

I agree with you though. I love what the Dutch did, the first 11 were given the shirts 1-11 from the back to the front. They knew the responsibility wearing that shirt had and lets be honest it worked for them.

Is noone biting on my 'best player ever to wear 25' comment?!

He's not in Argentina now. He's RUINED Christmas.

Plus Navarro should be 4 not 8. And Calderon has a winger's number. We might as well just forget going up this season.
Since when has 14 been a wingers number?

IMO the first choice 11 should be allocated 1-11 thus:

1 - GK

2 - RB 5 - CB 6 - CB 3 - LB

4 - CM 8 - CM

7 - RW 11 - LW

9 - CF 10 - ST

Feel sorry for Kishishev having to hand his number back to Zamora next year?

No.

Kishishev is a Bulgarian legend and an almost constant presence throughout most of Charlton's seven year spell in the Premier League... What's Bobby ever done in the top flight?

*runs away*

Well quite a lot actually, admittedly its taken him a fair while to get to where he is, and he is a different sort of centre forward now to the one he was while he was with us, but l think he is doing a pretty good job in the Premier League now.

And if he wasnt injured at the time, l think he would have probably made that plane to South Africa, and do you know what?, he would have made a better fist of things out there than the likes of Rooney, Heskey, Defoe etc did.
