The guy who wrote the book also wrote The Hustler. The Colour of Money, and The Man Who Fell to Earth. He was an alcoholic and written in the same year we got to the cup final. In the series did they use Staunton [pieces all the way through? Got an idea that they didn't in the final game?

Not sure what all the fuss is about personally. It's not bad but not brilliant imo. Visually it's very good. The final scenes were like Rocky beating Ivan Drago... but in chess.
Have to agree with you on that.

Thought Money Heist, and Prison Break were much better.

I've re-watched it a number of times and, whilst everyone is going on and on about Anya Taylor-Joy (yeah she's great), I like episode 1 the most with little Beth Harmon (played by Isla Johnston) and Mr Shaibel (Bill Camp).

Both excellent actors in their own right. They absolutely nailed it. I do hope they get the recognition they deserve.
