My wife saw the Beast of Bodmin Moor in the 90’s. She is absolutely 100% convinced, as are the people who she was with when they saw it. And reading up about it, it’s pretty clear it was real. It was a Puma that a private collector had released and spent a few years terrorising sheep.

Whether or not these cats have bred and flourished in the wild or not though, I’m not so sure.

Has anyone else fallen down the incredible aliens / wormholes / killer creatures rabbit hole that is Skinwalker Ranch?

Basically an old ranch in Utah where strange things have apparently happened for centuries. Now filled with blokes with PhD after their names firing rockets with GPS trackers on and digging in to a macer to prove it has a space ship / worm hole in it.

But there have always been cattle mutilations and they took samples of the teeth marks from the latest one that an actual forensic biologist reckoned could only be from a Dire Wolf - which has been supposedly extinct for a very long time.

It’s the only programme to come close to making me believe some of this stuff. UAPs captured on camera, inexplicable instrument readings and the military taking an unhealthy interest in it all. If it is a hoax it’s a bloody good one.
Yes. It’s pretty bloody terrifying. It’s one of those things where if there is a rational explanation for it, it’s probably even weirder than the supernatural one.

These things are best left well alone. Certainly no mileage in moving to the area and digging around. No good can come of it.

Stick to the paths.

Big cats have been found dead in the UK wild, as well as smaller Wild Cats of non native origin. So they do exist, or have done. Plenty such evidence.

Anyway last week I saw an all white pheasant in the wood. Was so shocked I had to ask another person nearby if they had also; they had and also got a photo of it! Turns out there’s an albino animal collector nearby so probably escaped from there. Which explains the all white wallaby sighted nearby a few years ago, a photo of which was in the local rag!

I watched the first series (and maybe the second) before my TV provider lost The History Channel. It was entertaining enough but I remain completely unconvinced by it - to me it is entertainment first, second and last with a dash of pseudo-science thrown in (the same channel also showed "Ancient Aliens" which is complete and utter garbage).

I much prefer The Curse of Oak Island (which certainly has its own issues with how some of it is presented but the underlying history is fascinating).

I find the programs on these things brilliant.

For pure entertainment purposes.

I have some friends who are convinced aliens visit us.

Maybe they do.

But when people quote airforce pilots and military folk and say they must be credible, I chuckle.

The military is full of absolute nutjobs 🤣

Myself, wife and lad saw a big cat-like animal jump onto, then over, a fence, in the New Forest five years ago. We were too far away (maybe 60m) to be entirely definitive, and it was gone too quick to get a phone out - but all three sure of what we saw.

Maybe. But there are plenty of ‘military folk’ that are absolutely credible that have gone on record to say that they have seen things that can’t be explained. There’s a big difference between the likes of Commander David Fravor and some redneck Private from Alabama who has never seen a foreigner before. If you read the accounts of Fravor and similar others, it’s pretty clear that there is something absolutely mental going on out there. Maybe (hopefully) it’s ‘us’ as in classified technology that we aren’t supposed to know about yet. But who knows? You can’t just dismiss those people as nut jobs- they clearly aren’t.

Jeremy Wade of River Monsters fame concluded that the most plausible explanation for the loch Ness "sightings" were occasional sightings of Greenland Sharks which are pretty big and could definitely end up in Loch Ness
Estimated they can also live for up to 500 years…….so allowing the myth to perpetuate with a very occasional sighting even if it was single one that ended up in the Loch.

That’s fair enough.

Surely if that was true, there would be widespread reports of livestock being killed & eaten. We soon hear of dogs attacking sheep.

I think the Cornish version definitely existed. People have even admitted releasing them into the wild.

I’m not sure they need to attack livestock. In fact, most cases of big cats attacking humans or their livestock in areas such as Africa are often attributed to desperation or starvation on the part of the feline.

In the wild, these creatures eat a lot of deer. But the non-native Rabbit is very common and would make a decent meal if a big cat got it paws on it. The same goes for all those game birds we stuff our countryside with.

The deer in this country have no natural predators apart from perhaps foxes when they are very young. They are an abundant food source for any would be big cat such as the Eurasian Lynx caught in Cricklewood in 2001.

Anyhoo, great fun but have you ever seen a beastie out there in the rolling hills? Up from the depths?

Walking along a dirt road in the woods in Ontario I got close (40 feet) to a black bear that came out of the trees. Fortunately he wasn't interested in me and continued across the road and into the trees on the other side. I'd rather not have another bear encounter but if I do the black bear is a safer one to see.

Saw a grizzly once in British Columbia but I was on the chairlift going up a mountain... definitely never want to see a grizzly face to face.

Most dangerous thing I've seen in England was a black cat in York who was all purry and it's okay rub my belly, then he struck like a psychopath and left me scarred for a week.

I think the rule is;

If it’s black - fight back
If it’s brown - lay down
If it’s white - goodnight!

2017,Borth,Mid Wales, confirmed sighting of what was later identified as a Lynx (not Africa btw) wandering down the high street in daylight.
Hysteria took over and the locals swore blind they saw a fkn Bear a week later taking a dip in the sea.

I regularly see sheep carcasses when out fishing
Talking of fishing I was fishing a lake years ago near Horsham is was just staring to get dark and my float shot under the water and by Christ there was something huge on the line.
Years of fishing and I’ve never hooked something like that It took off to the middle of the lake and I just couldn’t get it off the bottom.
Didn’t feel like a carp or a pike it just wouldn’t tire what ever it was. Lost is eventually I was gutted I couldn’t get it to the surface to see what it was.
