I only listen to SCR during the day for the sports news and then it's back to something else/anything else. Let's face it-SCR is the shit end of broadcasting and if it wasn't for the Albion coverage and news most of us wouldn't go near it. Time Pringle got a collective boot up the chuffer from us lot.

So not only did he sack John Radford, he took his radio spot too

I'm newish as a presenter at SCR, and am massively pro-Falmer, and boy do I get stick for it on the emails texts and letters. And I consider myself mildly left-wing; and most of the people I know who are too, are also very pro-Falmer.

I'm pretty sure Neil isn't anti or pro falmer to be honest, and if he only put one pro-Falmer call through it's because, that's all they got. If you deluge the station with calls, that's what they'll put out.

i didn't hear the show, but it does sound like this bloke is doing his best to lose the rest of the audience that haven't already moved stations over his appalling treatment of busby et al.

I've given up with SCR in the mornings this week. I used to have it on my clock radio so i'd get the sports news etc but it's really so shite I've given up and gone back to Virgin radio. I can get all the sport news I need on NSC anyway!

I didn't - and I didn't say the BBC was left wing either. Not sure how you interpreted that.

I've always voiced my pro-Falmer opinions in press, on air, and on stage, and SCR have no problem with that. On a radio station, presenters are allowed to have their own opinions; newspapers work slightly differently.

I obviously don't listen to SCR a great deal up here, but I listen to the radio a lot.

Off the Falmer issue for a second, I always shocked at how technically bad the output can be when I get the chance to listen.

Jingles and promos coming in too early or too late, extended pauses etc.. It's sounds like student radio at times.

( The game coverage and afterwards always seems spot on .. maybe I'm more concerned with the content rather than the presentation though )


I'd admit to really knowing nothing about about radio, but I spend a lot of my week in and out of television transmission suites (as is the nature of my job) and my brother is an ex, but fully trained up television transmission controller.

I guess it all comes down to training and maybe the BBC don't train em' like they used to.

I used to work for BBC SCR, I helped to set up the outside broadcast unit for them. One day the presenter failed to turn up and I had to virtually start the 'show' by myself. The OB unit consisted of a mangled mess of wires put together with magnets and string, how it ever worked I'll never know.

All the ex BBC I've ever worked with have nothing but bad things to say about them, its an over funded monster. Did any of you know that all BBC transmissions (BBC1 2 etc..) are outsourced and run by a private company, bet not!!

I think Pringle was just trying to play devil's advocate, in his usual ham-fisted way. I loved that nimby who said that she didn't want thick football fans in her area. So we had better have IQ tests at the turnstiles, less than 5 out of ten on the quiz and you are refused entry. We must keep the locals happy after all.
