Need recommendations for a new SatNav

How can you read a map safely whilst driving if on your own?

Big blue motorway road signs ok I get that, although some can still be a bit confusing.

Sat navs make driving to somewhere you're not familiar with stress free for me. Top notch technology.

thanks for all the advice.. I do have an iPhone 4 running iOS5, so that's an option. Might look a bit more into that. Would probably move over to 3 to get unlimited data.. hmmm, very interesting!
