No blame attached to maupay today. Setting up to play the way we did doesn’t play to his strengths. Alone up front chasing shadows for the most part Is hardly what he’s about. Poaching in and around the 6 yard box is where he’s best. Until we find the creative element to our game it will remain tough for him.

Which is why Murray should have started today

Though to be fair he was practically a lone striker against big CB’s who were as equally mobile as him.

In the championship he might have got more than one chance....

True, he was also offside too often. His pace was completely nullified by defenders who were quicker than him and he showed very little. Poor game

Certainly in the first half, he was asked to do a lot with passes from a distance.

Irrespective of how high a line Chelsea played, their centre backs were never going to get caught out having been given a few extra seconds notice.

He was so isolated yesterday I’m not sure it’s fair to judge anything on that.

Anyone who has seen the goals he has scored for Brentford would know that he needs players around him and yesterday he spent most of his time with his back to goal or chasing lost causes. Can’t blame him for a complete lack of service

We are a club who buys forwards and destroys them, I don’t know why it is... but it seems as soon as a striker signs on the dotted line here they wilt like spinach. We created plenty of chances at Newcastle, home to West Ham and even Southampton with 10 men and didn’t win any of them. Yesterday isn’t the problem, those games where we wasted plentiful chances against more realistically beatable opposition are the issue

It’s a real difficult one as Murray perennially this offside, and I think Connolly needs someone closer to him.

January can’t come soon enough and Bloom doesn’t like to spend in January, well he’s going to need to have a rethink this time.

As we seem to suggest exactly the same issues with all our strikers 'isolation' perhaps we need to start looking at the position of centre forward differently.

Probably came across wrong I like Maupay I just think he had a poor game, but yes the service was non existent so no surprise.
