Popular opinion seems to be that we've signed both the best defender and the best striker in the championship last season.

Puts a bit of perspective on the negativity and impatience through the transfer window on here.

But lets not get carried away, We had the best player in the Championship the season we went up, unfortunately that doesn't always translate in the Premier League.

Yes good points, and potentially good signings indeed, though Maupay does seem similar to Andone, and we really need to look towards a Murray replacement/cover.

That’s not to say it won’t happen, perhaps Andone might be part of a swap....

Not knocking Murray, but if we intend to play a fast transitional style, why would we need a big lump up top?

We have plenty of height for set pieces, so we can get away with a shorter front line in open play.

Nothing to do with being ITK for me....it’s the constant ‘waaah waaah why haven’t we signed anyone’ type-rubbish that does my head in when the window is still open. It’s like being half way through your supermarket visit and panicking because you haven’t picked up any cereal yet even though it’s on your list and in the last aisle, and the shop doesn’t close for ages.

But it’s not about a big lump, it’s about the same type of aerial power / ability to hold up play but with more mobility.

There is nothing worse than clearing the ball and it coming straight back, because there is no physical strength to hold it up.

There’s something about these midland/northern clubs who used to be good back in’t day, that really pisses me off for some reason, villa fans on Twitter and social media seem like absolute dickheads, remember earlier in the summer when some drivel newspaper linked them with Dunk for £25m ( :lolol: ) they were acting as if the deal was sealed and he’d be gagging to go there.

Hope they crash and burn this season.

Agreed and I used to quite like Villa too before they were relegated.

Bearing in mind how toxic Villa fans have been this summer, can you imagine what it will be like when Leeds or Wednesday come back up?!

Neal Maupay could be 50/50 a horrible or very succesfull signing. He was very good vs Swansea last season even though we crushed them three times. But as an outsider very eager to see every Brighton game this season, I'm curious about this Murray fella. We have two pretty old players - Wayne Routledge and Nathan Dyer - that havent performed anything for many years.

Potter was not allowed to use them other than in crisis early last season, until they said to our owners that they reject their bonuses. Sure, we played in a lower division than the year before, but both looked incredible coming back, with especially Routledge really thriving in the potterball; clever little runs, madda****ing Zidane-like in the combination game and a few goals on top of that.

I dont know how Murray likes to play but one thing I know for sure is that Potter's starting forwards always had more brain than pace. Alhaji Gero in Östersund was slow as **** and couldnt score a goal if his life was dependent on it, but he was clever. McBurnie scored lots of goals in Swansea but is no sprinter, he is just clever and deadly (**** I miss him by the way.. almost on Potter level). Maupay may arrive but dont count Murray out.
