We’d have almost certainly got nothing for him in January. We might as well just let him run his contract down.

I’d rather that than letting him go now unless we have somebody else signed. I want Undav tested in anger before we let our top goalscorer go.

I think it's the right time to say goodbye. Let's get a few quid for him and try to find a replacement.

I think that is rubbish TBH.

He was exceptional last season doing what he has always done for us.

1. Missing plenty of sitters.
2. BUT scoring technically brilliant goals - but all at the right time!

He upset scores of Palace, West Ham and Stains fans. They hate him. But they don’t hate him as much as Arsenal and Leeds fans, he haunts their dreams.

This in a nutshell. He is entertainment and that is what it should all be about. A bargain for Notts Forest or wherever he goes. We are not going to get a goal scoring replacement for £15 million. Hopefully we will not need one.

I’ll miss Neal, I really will.

He’s scored some sublime goals for us, yep he’s missed some too... but those goals against Arsenal in particular, well, I shall remember them for a long old while.

I hope he stays, but could understand him seeking regular playing time at a club new to the PL (this time around) like Forest.

I can only assume that Undav is looking very good, although being eased in... it kind of felt inevitable when he arrived tbh, they’re clearly all too similar.

I’m guessing the opposite with Undav, if he was being eased in surely with five subs he would of played some minutes today especially with us needing a goal.
I don’t really understand how he fits in. Hardly any PL clubs have a slow old number 9 these days it’s all about pace and power.

Yes, that’s crossed my mind but i opted to try and look at the (plausible, ahem) positive angle ... he does look a bit old school, but (I think) he can finish ?!? Maybe we’ll never really know?

I can see Tross filling in centrally, or all of our attacking midfielders/attackers rotating about in the absence of Welbz ...

With GP, well anything could happen!

I’ll still miss Neal and his flashes of genius :/ sad that he might never better Murray’s record too... that’s a shame actually, he probably deserved a bit more of a chance to beat it, if I’m being honest.

Desperate nonsense I’m afraid.

Welbeck was too effective to take off today. Undav will get his minutes and will score goals but he is a very different player to Welbeck. These stats are fantastic (below). Let’s give him a chance to understand our manager, system and football culture before we write him off with imbecilic comments such as ‘slow old number 9’.

Maupay had plenty of chances occasionally he’s had a flash of brilliance but I don’t think that’s enough, your striker needs to score the bread and butter goals, not miss penalties against the likes of Norwich which I think may of been the final straw for GP.

Fair enough... we move on, it’s the way it is.

Very much under appreciated, always puts a shift in, plays with a smile on his face and scores goals.

Yes I accept he misses sitters, but would you want to play against him?

If he goes, all the best to him, but I for one will miss the PTS.

Although you can’t ignore results have improved when he hasn’t played.

To be fair I think he is highly appreciated by the fans at least. It’s his name that is sung more than any other.

I’ve come to expect some Gallic shithousery after watching Knockaert and then Maupay. Assuming we get a replacement, he needs to be French.
