Picking up a striker who can't get a game for a #TeamLikeBrighton won't feel like any kind of statement of intent for them, but it could be a good move all round.

Maupay will feel he has something to prove having been eased out of the Albion, and he's sure to relish being given the opportunity at a "big club". His attitude and work ethic will endear him to the Goodison faithful and if he can chip in with a few goals too - complete with shithousery celebrations - they'll be loving his work.

Possibly, but it leaves us Welbeck, Trossard, Undav and Ferguson as options when we play one up top, so I would say it will only be if we find the right player at the right price. Let's not be signing the next DJ Strollabout just because some of our fans are itchy on social media.

We do NEED that but expect the club aren’t aiming to sign that type of player. Kouame is 24 and not prolific. Most recent season with Anderlecht yielded 8 goals. We’re just reducing the age of the similar type of player to maximise potential and possible resale value.

this debate has already been and on another thread, but personally I highly doubt that TB, as a fan of the club, is merely interested in reducing the age profile of the team in order to get more money for players, that's a rather cynical view of how we operate.

TB's plan for the club is a perhaps non-linear line of progression, but I highly doubt at any point there he's decided to stop signing players that are better than what we have. the club will have picked kouame out because there's certain statistical attributes that mean he'd be a good fit for the team, I'd imagine, not just because he's a younger similar version of maupay (and having seen them both play they're nothing alike)

People have done this since the game was invented and as I grow older I too can't fathom why. Why the hell did they recruit all these highly regarded scouts and coaches when they could have just hired a load of local welders/chip shop owners/taxi drivers etc instead?

I'll be very sorry to see Neal go, I've always enjoyed his contributions, both on and off the pitch. But can understand his desire to try and prove himself elsewhere, given lack of recent game time at Brighton.

I think he will probably do well at Everton if he goes there
Is he a 'top' PL striker? No, obviously not (yet). But he is a very decent PL level forward player, with high work rate and a reasonable goal return.

Given relatively low expectations from Everton fans, I suspect they will be pleasantly suprised by what they will be getting for £15m.
