Naylor STILL sucking off Barton

I have generally been in the Naylor isn't a very good sports writer camp and not got wound up by him but this time he has simply shown he is a lazy journalist who doesn't actually deserve the no doubt good salary he is on. I won't repeat his absurd idea that Barton may have not meant the stamp as that clearly just shows he has never played football at a decent level. The bit that winds me up is he states something along the lines that to let the same player who scored a legitimate goal was allowed the same route and the freedom of the Amex to power in a header from 6 yards was a costly dereliction of Albion duties. If he bothered to look at the replays, talk to David Stockdale or Connor Goldson or listened to what Hughton said, he may have realised that Keane actually blatantly fouled Goldson therefore giving himself a free header. He also states how Stephens pushed Kayal close for man of the match and yet gives him a 7 and Kayal a 9 which in Naylor's crap ratings is a chasm. I officially give up ever reading anything he says again!

I'm sure the players have been briefed to be as professional as the gaffer was over this. The game is done, no point stoking it any further, just move on to the next one.

As for Naylor, he only comes out with these 'controversial views' so that people will acknowledge him.

I agree with this. The players are just being professional and moving on whilst retaining a touch of class. Class that appeared sadly lacking in our opponents. I'm hoping the team will take out their frustration on Birmingham tomorrow.

Naylor's comments make him look a bit naive and silly. If Barton was going to make a deliberate stamp, but try to make it look unintentional, his eyes would have been fixed pointedly away from Kayal's leg. In an accidental collision, it would be natural at some point to take a glance at what had happened. Barton did not look, because he already knew what had happened.

Err, no you gormless ****. If you watch the image from Vine, the side on angle clearly shows Barton looking up to the ball AFTER he has made sure his foot is on Kayal's leg to land on it.

I can't say that I've ever played football to a "decent" level, but I know that there is no way on this earth that Barton's stamp was an accident. It's just about having played the game at all, as far as I can see.

I haven't taken any notice of Naylor for years and I'm not about to start now. He's certainly not generating any clicks from me for his appalling employer's rag, either.

I watched via the television. My first instinct was that Barton's studding was deliberate. Right or wrong- I don't know.

The only way to work it out is the length of time he held his studs on Kayal's leg. Was it part of one movement ? If so he can be given the benefit of the doubt. But it is the time he held his studs there and the force with which he held them. The slow motion replay has him guilty- but that is in slow motion. The Football League will hopefully find the answer.

The Burnley game had some 'incidents' which make his job easier but if he agrees with the Albion or NSC consensus we'll all go 'Meh , that's what we said' - so like the supporters jibe a few weeks back he's 'stirring the pot'. Exactly it was blatantly clear that Barton was told at half time to attempt to get Kayal off the pitch either by injury or retaliation.

Kayal was running the game and Barton didnt like it simple as that.

Even Danny Murphy said it on Talksport this morning that " The Brighton Player was giving him the run around "

I fully believe the stamp could have been avoided and Barton chose to bring his foot down on Kayal's leg, it was nasty and sums up Barton as a person. I don't think the elbow was intentional though, as Adam Virgo said on the FL show, Barton jumped first and Kayal jumping later meant he was coming up into Barton's arm, what was laughable was Barton holding his face like he'd been elbowed when there was no contact at all. He couldn't cope that Kayal was getting the better of him so resorted to cheating and moaning at the ref. I also think he made the most of the challenge Dunk put in and dived to win the free kick that eventually led to their equaliser. It's a shame that someone stepped in and stopped Dunk from lamping him at the end of the match.

You mean the one in front of the west stand where he lunged at the ball, got the ball and only the ball, with said ball between him and the opposition player, and was not in danger of making contact with the opposition player?
