It would be too costly for the FA to pay out his contract at Chelsea.

I think Howe is more likely, as I could see the Saudi's more likely to release him (cheaply)

Much of the talk in Milan was about who would replace GS when he (inevitably, it would seem) goes after the World Cup. Potter is obviously out, which is quite convenient for him as I don't think he would have wanted the England job at this stage of his career - and history tells us that you only turn that job down once. If Newcastle don't pick up a few more wins this year then I can't see the Saudi's fighting too hard to retain him - it would be the perfect opportunity to get a 'big name' in. A lot of England fans and media seem to be resigned to Brendon Rodgers being offered the job, on the basis that he is British and will most likely be available, plus he is another one who would tow the party line with the FA.

Rodgers might be a decent choice. Arguably his biggest weakness is the transfer market - not an issue - and he's proven to be a good coach with Cup-winning experience.

The style of play Southgate tries to get England to play is excessively boring but for me it’s tactically mindless, how can you play a back 5 without all 3 centre halves AND goalkeeper being comfortable on the ball, the entire way that system works is having ball playing defenders who are happy to step into midfield and into wider positions, Dier and Maguire alongside Pope simply aren’t good enough on the ball.

Be much better served just playing a back 4, with the defenders we have available.

Pathetic from England. From well inside their half we go backwards all the way to Pope who boots it out of play.
International goalie!
Stockdale was as good.

Most good sides press in their own half at least if not in the opponent's.
England stand off and watch.Think we might get third in the WC group behind Wales.
