National PS2 shortage

Only if you are so shallow that you judge a console by a single genre of game (although PES4 is excellent).

That would be like judging a woman solely because she has a great pair of tits, and ignoring her personality.

The 'Cube has some great games out at present in the form of Metroid Prime 2, Paper Mario 2, Pikmin 2 and Donkey Konga (with free Bongos!). It's a shame it does not have GTA, but is still a superb piece of kit, especially for kids, and is only £75 including a game at Amazon

Only £70 at Argos with free Donkey Konga!

As for PSTwos, I was in Game the other day when someone phoned up for one. He/she was told that nationally, Game had 30000 and they were all spoken for - no more before Xmas.

GameStar in Boundary Road had PStwos yesterday.

Hey Leon.

If you see any PStwos, buy 'em! Seriously. You'll get at least £150 on eBay. £50+ profit per console is worth a bit of effort I reckon.

I bought one from Argos on a whim a few weeks back for £110 including Burnout 3 (which I've since sold for £25) and a free £10 Argos voucher... so it cost me £75. Nice.

Will probably put it on eBay as I've just fitted a 120Gb hard disk to my old PS2/network adapter, with ripping software on its way... *goes off into geek mode*

Is this for real?

There are stacks of them here in Virgin at the airport. If they are really going for more on eBay I'll stock up

Aha - another HDLoader fan! Shame not all games work.

I've heard San An works okay?

I didn't even know you could fit a standard IDE drive to a PS2 network adapter until a couple of weeks ago. Definitely the way forward.

Blockbuster becomes your favourite shop! Originally, I heard San Andreas was a dual layer disk which can't be read. But then a compatability websites says that it does work so I'm not sure. Getting the original for Xmas anyway.

EA Sports games don't seem to work - couldn't do Fifa 2005 or Cricket 2004. So far, I've got Burnout 3, PES4, Eyetoy Play 2, THUG and a few older ones.

forgive my dumbness but could somebody explain all about this, are you saying you can copy ps2 games on pc/laptop and play them via your ps2 network adaptor?

Does anybody have any links for any sites which show how to do this?

Cheers

Er... no.

You can install an IDE hard disk (the type used in a PC) in a PS2 (not the new slimline ones). Note: you need a £20 network adapter installed as that includes the hard disk interface.

With special software (ie HDLoader) you can 'rip' PS2 games onto the hard disk, and subsequently load them on your PS2 from a simple menu.

PS Personally, I don't condone piracy.

I do have a network adaptor but no idea about the exta software you spoke about. Any links anyone?

By the way i also have no interest in piracy just im very intested in the subject!!

Wow,

a world I never knew about.

I got my PS2 on the day they were released in this country and it's certainly wearing out over time with loading times taking longer and longer and some discs having problems being read.

This sounds like the perfect solution.

Cheers guys
