National Curry Week 21st-27th October

NSC's Most Stalked
Enough of all the depressing sports stuff, lets CELEBRATE :)

http://www.nationaleatingoutweek.com/contents3.html

So whats the best curry dish to get?

Do you go for chicken, lamb, goat, vegetable?
A tomoato or cream based dish?
How spicy do you want it?

What best accompanies the dish - rice, parathas, naans?

Think a CURRY is needed to save the world from all this depression

Personally, I think the Chicken Ceylon is up there, a creamy based one, but the kick of chillies, but not too over powering, the rest of the dish
Served with a pilau rice, and a paratha - MINT!

Too right this deserves a thread of it's own.

It's half term, I'm off work all week and I'm gonna go into curry overload.

The world is a beautiful place, and curry is one of the more beautiful things in it.

Veg dansak, sag aloo, bombay potatoes on Friday to kick things off.

Use to love a Chicken Madrass but now go for a Chicken tikka Balti as the flavours shine through better, accompanied with meat samossa, onion bahjee, Keema Nan, Pilau rice and bombay potato.

Its got to be lamb, its got to be a heavy tomato based curry like a nice balti or Rogan Josh. Basmati rice and a plain naan to mop it all up with.

And lime pickle, there must be lime pickle.

Pork Vindaloo!!

Ingredients

I really haven’t got a clue about measurements just go with the flow but do not overdo the vinegar or the sugar!

Lean Pork
A medium onion
Ferns Vindaloo Paste
Garlic Powered
Cumin Powder
Sugar
White Wine Vinegar

Dice some lean pork into smallish cubes. Chop the onions. Add the paste to the onions and the pork in a bowl.

Add the garlic and cumin powder…go on be brave.

Drizzle a tablespoon of the white wine vinegar and a teaspoon of sugar.

Mix in together then place Clingfilm over the top and let it marinade for 48 hours.

Heat a wok with some sunflower oil. Dollop in the pork and onions and cook for 10 minutes on a high heat stirring regularly. Add a wee bit of water but note this is a dry curry.

Simmer for a further 15 minutes or unbtil pork is tender,

Serve with boiled rice and dhall!!

Uffern
Vegetable kotthu, potato pirattal, aubergine curry, channa curry and rice from the Jaffna House in Tooting...with some bonda to start. Enough for two people for about £8 or £9. What's not to like?

Lamb Phall from a decent house that uses fresh spices, none of that firey red shit most places serve up. Sag Paneer and a plain nan bread. Pint of Kingfisher. The wife'll luv ya.

I'm quite a big fan of a Chicken Pathia, and a Dupiaza is good too although don't have one if you plan on going out on the pull afterwards.

Served with a Keema Naan, Onion Bhaji and a few pints of Cobra or Kingfisher
