What abuse? I definitely heard very little yesterday.

there were a few "brighton reject" chants and some comments along the lines of "mayo is better than you" - although it was in all likeliness tongue in cheek

i think the thing that really wound him up was the treatment he received from our players - especially whing, who being his usual self just seemed intent on flying into reckless challenges. the majority of that team will never achieve what jones did at our club, and as such you would think they would give him some respect - instead of a mouthy full back calling him a "cheating welsh ****"

he shouldnt have reacted like he did, but i think it was more a gesture towards our players than towards our fans - who he has always been very complimentary about

None of Brighton's challenges came anywhere near the one Jones got sent off for at Bristol Rovers. The bloke is an arsehole, a hypocrite and a property racketeer.:D

a passionate celebrating a win against a side he used to play for and was deemed not good enough for by some - especially when he had songs of "brighton reject" whenever he cocked up - although they were tongue in cheek - fans shouting "you're not as good as mayo", and a mouthy right back calling him a "cheating welsh ****" or words to that effect

no matter what he achieved for us, cant blame him for letting his relieve out at the final whistle like that - just shows he has passion and loves playing football, something we could do with in our side right now

Agree, I wonder what the reaction would be if it was the other way round?

Lynch anyone?

If Brighton had won the game, a thread about Jones over-celebrating a goal might have got a couple of posts. We've had a very bad few days on and off the pitch, and he's a handy scapegoat. He gets a bit of stick, then he gets to celebrate if they win, that's the way it should be.

And where did this 'Nathan Jones legend' thing come from anyway? Clubs used to have five legends a generation, now it's about a dozen a season. A couple of half-decent substitute appearances with step-overs, and legend status is yours.

I remember fans giving Jones stick and taking the piss out of him when he was here.

Then we didn't give him a new deal despite keeping far worse players on the books.

I'm not surprised he enjoyed BEATING us.

I could quite clearly hear BRIGHTON REJECT on the radio yesterday so not surprised he celebrated the way he did, he laughed last innit!

He wouldn't of been laughing though if some irate fan had jumped over and clubbed him one for that would he?... These players have been bleating on and on lately about more player protection and feeling scared of fans getting on their backs, well they are hardly helping them f***ing selves with idiotic actions like those.

WRONG the Premiership pansies have been bleating on, lower league players know what to expect and just get on with it :)

I used to like him, till the home game this season. A lot of the fans in the North were trying to have a bit of pre game banter with him when he was warming up. All harmless stuff about the step overs, haircut, etc. He just completely ignored it all even though he was stetching right on the touch line. This was a guy who was known to come over & have a good laugh with fans prior to games, home & away.
I thought that day, you arrogant little twat.
I obviously wasn't there yesterday, but it seems my reaction at the home game was correct.

How do you know what orders his manager had given him for that day or Club rules?

This whole thread is rubbish.

In a pile of football shirts
He actually got Wing booked by keep moaning to the Ref.:nono:

Seriously, come on, yes his actions at the end were wankerish, but Wing got himself booked by fouling Jones and then giving the ref loads of verbal.

Oh, and yes, I'm sure Jones heard most of the shit being dished in his general direction by one or two people in the Brighton crowd, so he was probably a little wound up over that too. One of the comments I heard, and saw, being shouted was "Jones you're f***ing shit, and you were f***ing shit when you were with us" as well as numerous "Brighton reject" so he was probably entitield to give it a bit large at the end.

Still wankerish though.

Not read all the replies but why have a go at him. Lots of people slagged him off big style on here so why not give a big up yours to the same people at a game?

I must be deaf. I didn't hear a single abusive comment aimed at Nathan "Hoogstraaten" Jones. However, he has every right to run up to the visiting fans at the final whistle, wave his fists at them and gloat at the result.

But he's a Yeovil player now. Have you considered how it might look to his team mates if he's seen to be having a love-in with the Brighton fans before an important match?

And as some have already said, where has this legend bollocks come from? He used to get some right shit at Withdean from the moaners, all perfectly audible to him in the morgue-like silence. The bloke who used to sit in front of me at Withers knew Jonesy well and told us of many of his amusing antics (which I won't repeat here). The Jonesy he knew was a funny, big-hearted player who loved Brighton to bits. He then got sold, much to his bemusement, whilst other less talented players were kept on but did he go public and moan about it? No.

As I said, I wasn't at the game yesterday but I have been at Withers when he's played for Yeovil and the reception he got for a so-called 'legend' was underwhelming to say the least. I really do wonder where a lot of Brighton's fans heads are these days. Stop bleating like wounded puppies, if I was a Yeovil fan reading this thread I'd be wetting myself.
