Anyone else feel like you have try really hard to like him?

Most of his interviews seem to just say all the football cliche's, and dare i say, insult our intelligence a little.

It's also his first major job in foorball, and i can't get out of my mind how much of a spice boy he was round town years back.

The new manager not wanting to make any connection with the fans also tastes a little bitter.

When the marketing lot speak more to us than the manager then there is a definate problem that needs addressing.

And yet he comes on to the pitch after every game to applaud the fans.

I don't like Jones and Garcia rarely speaks or indeed shows and emotion/passion/anger/happiness. I couldn't tell you what his assistants do or are called (one might be called Rubin?).

At the moment it seems that Barber and the bloke who played for Hove Park Colts are the face of the Albion.

I still love going to football though, even though our team isn't doing very well.

It feels like I have to try hard to like the Albion generally of late, and I don't mean in an old football/new football kind of way.

The funny thing is that under Gus with his big mouth and team of wind up merchants we were becoming increasingly hated by other teams' fans. Cheating Brighton. Arrogant Brighton. Nouveau Riche Brighton with their divers and back healers and wordy post match interviews. But as a Brighton fan I felt part of a gang with an identity. Us against the Championship. Not quite Millwall levels but the more people sniped the more part of the club I felt. I do accept though that at the same time Gus was probably alienating many of our own fans and that's why the Gus threads still kick off.

Now though we have a coach who wants to stay in the background and certainly has humility and integrity. We have a CEO who will reply to 1000 word emails from fans at 10pm on a Tuesday. We have a marketing department who foist pub-hatched idea after pub-hatched idea upon us. Fans of other teams may soon start liking little old Brighton again. I, however, have fallen more and more out of love with the club since the events of mid May to the point where I now feel I'm following a voiceless, faceless corporate entity.

I'd imagine the club is being particularly cautious following last summer's PR disaster. Nothing like a few wins to get coaches talking. We just need the wins...

Isn't the way Garcia speaks in interviews more to do with the fact that he's only lived in England for 3 months and, whilst his English is decent, he's going to struggle to get his character and feelings across for a while yet.

I think we've all been a bit spoilt lately. For the last two or three seasons it's felt like we were on the verge of something huge. After the massive kick in the bollocks we received from Palace and even more so in my opinion from Gus, we were all hoping for some good news this season. With Tony saying we had the same budget as last year, most of us thought we would see one or two top signings and were bracing ourselves for another exciting season pushing for promotion. Instead, we have had an ever increasing injury list and some very mediocre signings combined with predictably poor results. So it's easy to start looking for someone to blame. I don't think we should be blaming any of the management team, not yet anyway and you can be sure if we the fans are feeling depressed about recent events then the players are too. It's time to take a step back, look at the bigger picture and appreciate what we have got, then stick together and support the team even more through what I am sure is only a temporary sticky patch.

Exactly as I think.

Also I still feel the love for the Albion.

I feel very pessimistic about avoiding a televised drubbing by Watford ( last year the match v Watford at the AMEX was only the 2nd time I wanted Gus out, and was a terrible low point ), but really believe a great run of results is possible after that.

...nor me. There seems to be a distance between the club and the fans now, that certainly wasn't there before. Both OG and Nathan seem to lack charisma and the club as a whole feels a lot more of a 'corporate' entity since Mr Barber joined. It feels like we've lost a bit of our soul. The events of the summer didn't help, but something has certainly been lost with the departure of Gus, Tanno and Oatway and, in terms of the boardroom, Dick Knight and Martin Perry. It's just a bit hard to feel the love right now.

This summer my love of the Albion died a little bit and everything that has come from the club since then hasn't helped to repair that loss. I know from my son's attitude that he feels the same and that the supporters need some good news and very quickly.

It's the way he talks down to the fans that p1sses me off. Maybe some of the fans swallow his BS, but his waffle about our struggles to get the required strikers in just grates with me.

Have to agree, club seems to think we will turn up week in week out no matter what.....that's what worries me, because as things stand I can not remember hearing so many excuses...where as all along anyone could see what needed to be done on the playing side last season and nothing was done....

He comes across as talking common sense, beyond that I don't think anyone is in the position to actually know enough to criticise the job he's doing. Being an assistant manager isn't just talking to the camera.
