Huntingdon will inspect again at 11am to determine prospects for Thursday afternoon's meeting.
A spokesman at the course said: "We did get quite a sharp frost last night and temperatures dipped around dawn, but the forecast is for plenty of sunshine and temperatures of plus four.
"The winds should be lighter today so the wind chill will be less. We are hopeful, and are going to give the race meeting every chance to take place."
Should the meeting pass the inspection, Huntingdon will stage Britain's only National Hunt fixture, with the remaining meetings on the all-weather at Lingfield and Southwell.

Officials at Huntingdon are to hold a third inspection at 1pm just one hour before the scheduled start of the first race.
"The frost is coming out slower than we expected but it has been gathering pace in the last 20 to 30 minutes," said clerk of the course Michael Prosser after the second inspection at 11am.
"There are just a few certain areas that are giving us trouble, but the take-offs and landing areas are fine as they are sheeted.
"We want to give the meeting every chance and racing is still three hours away so we are calling another inspection.
"The wind chill is a problem but temperatures are hovering at around four and five degrees."
