Box set is not new it has been used for years. I didnt realise that tv shows were binge watched I thought that was series or seasons if American.

Yes, but in the past it meant an actual set (a single series/season, or an entire show) of videos or dvds in a box. Now it seems to have replaced the word 'show'. There are not box sets in that picture, just the names of tv shows.

People binge both series/seasons and shows. Depending on what is available.

I don't have much of an issue with referring to a digital collection as a box set. Sometimes outdate terminology survives (people still refer to taping things even though there is rarely any taped used in recording anymore). But no-one used to use the term 'box set' to mean 'TV show' they used it to mean an actual specific physical item collected in a box of some variety on which there was a recording of a tv show/series/season.
