1983 FA Cup Final and Replay

I was only twelve and was reliant on my dad taking me. He didn't because he had been off work with a bad back, although the way he leapt out of his chair when Gary Stevens scored put this into question!!!

At the time I said to my dad it didn't matter, he could take me next time we got there, the innocence of youth!

The evening game when we beat Walsall 7-0 after being 0-0 at half time. I was quite young and my Dad took me to most matches but didn't that game because it was an evening game and it was raining.

I listened to the radio that night and at half time I was ok with not having gone. In those days you didn't get live commentary so to then get a "over to the Goldstone for an update" every few minutes in the second half was unbelievable.
