What is your worst film of all time and your critical review stating why you loath the film.

This one is a front runner for me.

Funny Games

I had been meaning to watch this controversial film for some time.

A remake of a 90's Austrian subtitled film by the same film, Haneke entitled Funny Games US for the " mainstream " market.

The film is about a middle class or middle income being the USA family going on holiday who are terrorised by a couple of well spoken high school spotty teenagers in their holiday home.

Whilst a decent premise the execution was awful. Make no mistake this film is SHIT HOUSE. Its was frankly absured and totally unrealsitic , you think 30 foot Alien robots battering themselves is unrealistic well you ain't seen this film.

The 2 boys get into the house and start on the Mother who tells them to get lost. The Father who is a complete Paper Hat and waste of space confronts them only to be hit on his leg to which he is rendered useless from thereon. Earlier one of the Boys decides to kill the family Dog with a Golf Club. Armed with nothing more than a Golf Club for most of the film the family roll over and beg for salvation.

The most unrealistic part of the film which made me write it off was after 30 minutes the Mother goes to the Lake to meet some friends who were checking up on them. There were 4 grown strong adults and a spotty teenager with a Golf club and the Mother said and did nothing. It was ridiculous. After this the boys terrorise the family with a Golf club and eventually kill all 3. The only saving grace was that Naomi Watts was in scenes in her lingerie and that is the only positive things I can say about this sorry film.

Haneke no doubt was trying to make a statement about the failings of American society but Haneke at least make the premise and scenario remotely feasable. After their 10 year old boy was killed the parents acted as if nothing had happened.

If you want to see a film with a message about teen culture and the failings of society see Eden Lake and English film which is infinately superior. This was one of if not the worst films I have ever seen in my life. It is repellant, risable and trash.

Australia, which I was dragged to this year. A 3 hour film which really should have been about an hour at most, it started off as an outback film and then suddenly, and randomly, became a war film. Both films in one were shocking and the entire cinema were delighted when it finished, I was laughing and joking with several others who also couldn't believe how bad it was.

0.5/10.

Muriel's Wedding- A low budget, low laughter Australian movie. Poor characterisation and a weak story. Little or no sympathy for the characters and I was glad to see the end. Went with my wife at the time on our anniversary. Didn't even get a shag afterwards and this led eventually to her becoming an ex-wife.

Unrated.

Saw 3

Saw was a very decent film and Saw 2 a preet good sequelm imo but Saw 3 was one SICK mother fucker.

It was an excuse for the most OBSCENE horror porn with each execution trying to out do he previous one for rank vileness.

I at one stage started to sweat at one scene and felt physically sick something I had never experienced in a film and had to retire to the toilet for 5 minues. I did not heave but it was a close call.

After this I have not even cionsiderd Saw 4 or Saw 5. The director should have been sectioned in a mental asylum.

This is EVEN worse than Funny Games which is saying something.

Vile.

I haven't seen the remake of Funny Games, so I can't comment on it, although I have seen the original, which isn't bad although it isn't great.

Worst film I have ever seen is unquestionably Starship Troopers. There really is nothing worse than a stupid film which is thought intelligent by everyone involved with it. I suppose it is meant to be ironic, but the transideological nature of irony is vastly increased when it tries to beat its audience around the head while screaming "this is irony, THIS IS IRONY".

I quite enjoyed Starship Troopers and even had the video in my collection. For me it is made in the style of a 50's B film and it is meant to be cheesy and the actionscenes and Alien Earwigs were pretty cool especially the massive motherfucker near the end.

6.6 for me.

Dreamcatcher

Despite the fact that Morgan Freeman is in it, usually an indication that a film will be at least half decent, this is utter utter gash. It is supposed to be a horror film, which it kind of is for the first fifteen to twenty minutes, after that it is totally predictable and more akin to a really lousy slap-stick comedy when you can anticipate the jokes, I found myself laughing out loud to some of the alleged horror bits. I would have left half way through and gone home, but for the fact that I had gone with a couple of friends and had been the designated driver for the evening as we had gone for a curry beforehand...wish I had stayed in the restaurant!

Earwigs?

Think you are confusing the first film with the sequal.

And it wasn't irony it was black humour.

Some for consideration:

Backdraft - a film that was essentially built around a special effect. The cast included Robert De Niro and Donald Sutherland but it still sucked.

Legends of the Fall - I was made to see this by my ex. Two minutes into the film the plot became remarkably obvious. I then had to sit through this dirge for another two hours before I could leave.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest - the first one had an amusing scene with a monkey and Jonny Depp saved it from being totally dire. Quite why i thought the sequel would be any good I don't know. I nearly walked out after 15 minutes, it really was that shit. Sadly, I didn't.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding - Somehow, this got classified as a comedy

50 First Dates - There was a walrus, that was the only high point.

Unbreakable should get a mention. The first hour and half was compelling. Then you get the ending which totally ruined it. It was like the mother of all blow jobs from a girl who spits.

Utterly incomprehensible DRIVEL. I did not have a scooby what the hell was going on, and after half an hour I just didn't care. I've had more enjoyable evenings picking peanuts out of poo.
