Top marks for flair and attacking intent, not many for midfield bite and cover. Bridders is brilliant but he can't do it all on his own.

Of those posted so far, this one does it for me:

--------------------Kuszczak----------------------
------Bruno------El-Abd------Greer------Bridge----
-------------Bridcutt-------Hammond-----------------
------------------Orlandi/Lopez-----------------------
----Buckley-----------------------------LuaLua---
----------------------CMS------------------------

Subs: Hoskins, Crofts, Dunk, Calderon, Lopez/Orlandi, Dobbie, Vicente/Barnes (as if we need a sub keeper, just whack Calde there if necessary)

[I'd say no need for both Dunk AND Calde on the bench, just put Calde there and stick Brez in as back-up keeper]

Well indeed, but my theory is that both Spanish Dave and Orlandi have played as defensive cover recently and did well, so they have a bit of defensive nous, but loads of attacking flair as well. The Bridcutt Hammond combination is more likely though.

If Gus is to put Vicente in the side with 2 of LuaLua/Orlandi/Dave, plus Buckley and CMS/the new 50m quid striker, then Hammond has to make way. Well, I can dream anyway.

It doesn't matter how many times you repeat this, it doesn't make it true.

Noone wanted to go, because Cardiff DOUBLED his wages.
We got £1.5m plus add-ons, which (without the benefit of hindsight) was a fair price for a fringe player.
All reports online suggest it was a million and not the figure you keep quoting.

Spot on for me. But i'd always have a keeper on the bench.

I'm surprised no one else has considered Lua Lua's performance against Millwall, where he caused havoc in the middle of the pitch, as reason to try him in a more central role behind the strikers.

I think this is just about the best combination and quite possibly what Gus will go with. The only down side is that it's always useful to have either Buckley or LuaLua to come off the bench and run at tired defenders. While Kaz looks his old self, Buckley has looked below-par in recent weeks and I would perhaps be tempted to keep him on the bench, and give him the added motivation when coming on for the last half hour. So Hoskins could come into the starting line up and be given another chance to solve our goalscoring problem!

This is the formation that we've seen before and the one where I remove my rose tinted specs and ask the Gus bus driver a couple of questions.

- Why do we need 2 holding midfielders?
It's a very strong back 5, 6 with Bridders, and 7 with Hammond plays as a slow passing centre back.

- CMS wouldn't be available for most crosses as both centre backs will be marking him.
The fella has a 1 in 3 clear cut success rate, he'll not get any chances in that side.

- The one attacking midfielder will be swamped by at least 2 opposition midfielders.
CMS is marked out of the game by their CB's. KLL & WB will account for 1 MF and their full backs, leaving them mob handed in the middle.

Gus has put together a fantastic defensive unit, then made it even strong this year, why doesn't he let them defend.

We even talk about a defensive left winger (not in this team), does that description make any sense?
No other Albion manager could ever have got away with such a thing, were they all wrong and Gus is right?
