I will be taking my 5yr old to the Withdean on Saturday for his first ever live game. (If it hasn't sold out already lol ), where is the best place to sit and where can I get tickets from. Thank you

i went with my pal to the oldham game last weekend, and we took our boys (aged 4 and 6), we sat in family stand block T which is by far the best either of us has found at that end as its not smack bang behind the goal and meant we could actually see some of the game. if your lad has got a DS or PSP then i would take it with you but don't let him know (when his boredom gets too much for you pull it out of your pocket and he'll be happy!). undoubtedly he will get bored but try and get him to the toilet before kick off and at half time as you will probably hear those immortal words "dad i need a wee" just before we bang in a goal!!! Only other advice i have would be to take him a packed lunch and give him a bit at a time, again to stop boredom setting in on his part, and don't expext to get to watch too much of the game, Good Luck!!!!

Says it all above.

In regards to your second question, you most know where to get tickets from!?!

I haven't been to a game for about 5 yrs can i assume that i can't pay on the gate and I have to get tickets from the club shop?

Right. You may have to register, but they may already have your details from five years ago.

The club shop moved across the road earlier this year, if you haven't been there in a while.

There is the option of buying on line, but I think you need a member code or something, which you probably don't know. I don't know mine, but I tend to get my tickets in person because I don't like collecting them at withdean.

Ah i see, yeah no pay on the gate, so its either the club shop or even try to put an ad in the ticket section on here..

Well done for educating your son in the right manner!

You will need lots of sweets, half-time chips & low expectations.

Why not get him to count the number of away supporters &/or the number of empty seats in the South Stand?

Once you've got your tickets for the family stand I recommend you get there early enough for your son to enjoy Gully and co. They have fun with the kids and the first impression for your son will be that it's fun to come to the game.

There after it does depend a lot on the game and atmosphere. One challenge of the family stand is if the game isn't great it does suffer the worst from having no atmosphere, whereas the other stands at least have someone shouting/singing albeit not with the kind of language you'd want your kids to hear. I took my son to his first game, he's turning 4, and whilst we won against Wycombe I had to buy him about a months worth of sugary treats to keep him going through what was a dire game e.g. the candy floss, ice cream, fizzy drink. He laughed his socks off though at the start with Gully being cheeky to the cheerleaders and that alone was enough for him to want to go back.

My, probably too young at the time, daughter used to burst into tears whenever we scored as the noise scared here. She'd have been much better off watching the current team :lolol:
